Alec Baldwin is in "complete denial" and refuses to accept "any responsibility" for the death of "Rust" cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, her family's attorney says.
Hutchins was killed on Oct. 21 on the New Mexico movie set after a gun Baldwin was holding discharged. The actor continues to maintain his innocence and has alleged in a televised interview that he did not pull the trigger.
On the heels of Hutchins' family filing a wrongful death lawsuit against Baldwin and others on Tuesday, the family's attorney, Brian Panish, appeared on "Dan Abrams Live," where he claimed the "30 Rock" star "is continuing to do what he's done throughout this – blaming others."
"He's not accepting any responsibility," Panish said, adding that Baldwin, 63, "refused any gun safety training, number one."
"Number two, he pointed a gun at someone on a set. You don't do that without plexiglass and other precautions. Number three, why were there bullets in the gun to begin with whether they were fake or real? It was only a lineup. There was no intention for him to shoot the weapon. He wasn't supposed to shoot the weapon. Nobody expected him to do that, yet he recklessly fired the weapon while pointing it at three people, killed one and injured another," Panish added.
In addition Hutchins' death, director Joel Souza was also injured.

He did tell Stephanopolous that he felt no guilt at all. AT ALL?!?
he’s a sociopath. They feel absolutely nothing. I feel bad because I’m enjoying seeing Baldwin’s slow crash and burn.
If ballsywin did that, There Would be more innocent dead people but ballsywin wouldn't be one of them.
He gives asses a bad name.
I don't see how anyone else is responsible.
Kyle Rittenhouse was charged immediately...( self defense).....spent 87 days in jail.......had to pay one or two million to bond out.......and had to go to trial.....
.....no special favors for him!
Meanwhile Baldwin has been loose for over 3 months
Doing what liberals do. Wait! Is he pulling a gun in that pic?
Here’s hoping he has to continue that in a soup line somewhere after everyone involved have taken him for every cent of his $60M net worth.
He was to pull the pistol from a shoulder holster cross-draw fashion. He refused any coaching on how to do this despite ever having done it before. It’s clear he gripped the butt of the gun and wrapped his trigger finger within the trigger guard totally depressing the trigger.
Once pointed at his target he pulled back the hammer, trigger still fully depressed, and released the hammer. The hammer hit the live round and the producer died.
This was during a staging exercise to line up the camera shoot. There was no reason to pull the trigger or cock the hammer.
Alec Baldwin should have checked the gun himself. Alec Baldwin should have never pointed it in anyone’s direction at any time. He and he alone is responsible for the death of Helyna Hutchins. If he had done these simple safety proceedures, she would still be alive. Nobody else is to blame but him, and no amount of talking about it can change that fact.
Alec Baldwin=big mouth coward
Actually, we do not know for sure yet his degree of responsibility.
I want to know why he pointed and fired at her when it was not in the script.
I posted this after the incident first happened but it’s such great information I feel it’s warranted to keep it where more people can read it so I’m posting it again.
This is the first female armorer hired in the business and she’s very experienced. She posted detailed protocol for gun safety and the role of the armorer on set and she didn’t mince words. Very long but great info that starts with this link and first excerpt:
S L Huang (experienced film armorer):

A lot of people are messaging me about yesterday’s tragedy that was an on-set firearms death (because I am a film armorer, for those who don’t know).
As both a human and a professional, it is extremely upsetting. My thoughts are with Halyna Hutchins’ loved ones…(ctd)

In addition, this woman most generously came back on another thread following this and answered many individual questions.
She has subsequently posted new stuff so I’d recommend checking out his feed.

Also *I’M REPOSTING THIS*: if you’d all like to listen to an extremely informative and interesting conversation with her, listen to this (1 hr 3 min);
They Call Us Bruce:

It features SL Huang, the first female armorer in the film business. I discovered her through a very long but very informative thread on Twitter explaining how this accident should never have occurred.
Here is a summary of this podcast:
Jeff and Phil welcome mathematician and award-winning science fiction author SL Huang, who also happens to be a stuntwoman, firearms expert, and the first woman to be a professional armorer in Hollywood. They discuss her unique career, the recent tragic firearm incident on the set of Rust, the extensive procedures involved with on-set weapons safety — and how things can go wrong.
Thank You for posting that- Good info
You are welcome. I’m going to read it again and listen just to refresh my memory.
You know, I have to admit I watched the Baldwin interview with Stephanapoulos on Hulu. I did not really want to but finally a few nights ago I did.
It is especially interesting to listen to if you have read or listened to Ms Huang. Baldwin proved he is not only in denial but he has not even a basic understanding of how guns are to work on set.
You will see that SL Huang is insistent that a very large part of being an experienced armorer on set it that it is that person’s job to actually instruct and/or stop a DP from setting up a dangerous shot. Rather the armorer instructs how to get that shot with precision WITHOUT ever pointing at a person. EVER!
In a way—he is right—THERE should Not have been a live round on the set! Who ever put that real bullet in the gun is the one who should be blamed—Now, does the actor deserve some blame? YES, he should have checked to see if the gun was loaded. ALL actors in any film that has guns should need to go though NRA training for Gun Safety. Never point a gun at anyone (unless you plan to kill them). A single action weapon like that is hard to fire and must be cocked. He let the hammer slip and fire—a blank round would not have made a problem, but Guns are dangerous weapons and this one did what it was designed to do—take out people. A horrible accident—and Alex will pay!
Alec will never face charges. Take it to the bank.
He kills a person and is not jailed, not charged even. He is currently filming a movie overseas!
Yup. No self insight whatsoever. He’s not a whole person.
