Couple of questions for Texas voters

Got some questions on early vote in Texas. Did Greg Abbott say he doesn't support Trump? Huffines says Abbott turned on Trump. Has Ken Paxton done a better job than Louie Gohmert?

Just my take as a Texas voter:

Governor: Would be happy with any of the three as the alternative is Dumbocrat Beto. Abbott has done a decent job. Huffhines will be more a Bull in China Closet kind of governor which I would prefer. Col. Allen West is great but I’m afraid doesn’t have the name recognition and in my parts of the state has not been prominent in the media. I suspected when he announced that he was giving up his position as chairman of the Republican Party to mount a state-wide campaign in order to get his name out there in order to mount a challenge to Cornyn or be the odds on favorite for Cornyn Senate seat.
BETO: Come on, Dems if that is the best you have don’t bother !

Attorney General: Paxton has been great and the charges against him are likely bogus as they have been leveled without active prosecution forever.
I love Louis Gohmert and have contributed to his House campaign in the past. Wish he’d have stayed in the House. George P will be a non-factor I hope.

So my prediction: Abbott and Paxton will keep their seats

which challenger to Abbott would get rid of property taxes and go to a consumption tax, sooner than within 10 years?

Glad you asked....this guy likely comes closest to your ‘dream’ candidate....

Taxation

I find it rather disconcerting, and disturbing, that the individual tax policy of Texas is based upon the planks of Karl Marx written in “The Communist Manifesto.” Yes, two of his planks called for a progressive tax system, meaning an individual’s income is taxed and increased as their income grows. Marx advocated for the end of private property. In Texas – as it stands now — we continue to face rising property taxes with the end result that Texans never actually own their homes. So much for the great American dream.

As Governor of Texas:

I will review the past 20 years of Sunset Advisory Commission recommendations in reforming Texas State government. The savings we find can begin to offset and lower property taxes for Texans. We finally have spending control laws in place, but we need to get government growth back within its prescribed constitutional roles and responsibilities.

The time has come for us to “off-ramp” from property taxes in Texas, enabling Texans to have their dream of owning their homes, their property. Before we declared a system of taxation based upon income in America, taxation was based upon consumption. There are those who refer to this as a Fair Tax. We will abolish property taxes in Texas and replace them with a consumption-based tax.
Texas will never have a state income tax under my watch, something that has been passed into law and made an amendment to our Constitution.

Instead of crony capitalist Texas Enterprise Funds and taxpayer subsidies to corporations and businesses, we should eliminate franchise taxes in Texas. The foundation for taxation in Texas will be a consumption based tax system…which means business consumption of goods and services as well.

All savings that we find in reducing the size and scope of the Texas government will go towards reducing our tax burden here in the Lone Star State.

I’m not voting for Abbott in the Primary. My property taxes have gone up 53% in the last five years and I protest Every year. He spends that tax money like a drunken sailor.

Ken Paxton is great but has too much baggage and the baggage is a distraction, so I’ve voting for Gohmert. Paxton will be fine in the private sector.

I blame Tokyo Rove for the early cabinet picks. Including the Keebler Elf.

After he got booted out, I have no excuse.

You are indeed 100% correct on your analysis though.

Many thanks!!

West would cut government and also move the property tax to a consumption tax.

What would Huffines do?

In all fairness, we have to remember that property taxes are LOCAL taxes. Specifically, the fund the county, the school districts, and the city or other local agencies (e.g. transit).

They are not state taxes. The state gets its funds from the sales tax and franchise taxes and a hodgepodge of other taxes.

I look at name recognition. If Abbott who has name recognition, were to lose to Huffines, or West, I think that gives Beto an advantage.
Not everyone follows the candidates, their platforms, past votes. Many people decide when they get in the voting booth.
Sad, but true. Not happy with Abbott, but West will get the carpetbagger label, and Huffines the used car salesman label or Catholic label.

I think Beto and many Dems are in for a rude shock: the Latinos in the Rio Grande Valley will likely vote R more than ever this year. Beto doesn’t stand a chance.

If Cisneros is unseated in his primary, it will be due to the moderate and conservative Latinos bolting from the Democratic Party. AOC is behind Cisneros’s challenger. That race will be fun to watch for the story it will tell.

What counties charge in Taxes is totally controled by the state.

In the last year I paid $6,000 to the state in Robinhood payments. That is more than My entire Tax bill 15 years ago.

The counties don’t decide they can “ONLY” raise properties taxes 10% EVCERY YEAR on a house that has ZERO improvements and hasn’t been sold. That is over 70% in five years.

It should be 2% and that is all on Abbott being out of touch and being drunk on other peoples money.

Here in Collin county seeing lots of Riño Reckoning signs targeting Van Taylor who voted for the Jan 6 committee. In turn Taylor is spending a lot of money going after Keith Self, his top competitor

This is correct. We aren’t going to get “a better governor” than Abbott. Abbott and Trump support each other. Abbott has signed both open carry and Constitutional carry laws into effect. Abbott has borrowed resources to attempt to quell the flow of illegals across the border. He has gone where most governors have been afraid to go to try to slow abortions here. I can honestly say I rate Abbott and DeSantis of Florida as the two best governors in the US. Of course there are always those who want to fix what isn’t broke. Paxton is good, too, that’s why the libtards are always wanting to smear him with something.

Robinhood payments fund other school districts, and you can pin that on the state judiciary for mandating that.

The state has capped property tax rates at $2.50 per $100 valuation. The valuations are getting crazy with all the people moving in.
