... Australia, and the U.K. announced diplomatic boycotts of the Beijing Olympics, citing human rights violations, in reference to the Chinese Communist Party's abuse of a million Uyghurs, who have been placed in internment camps.

Odd how the Australians have no problem with putting people in covid quarantine camps. Oh sure, it's only "temporary" so that makes it alright...

According to a Morning Consult poll of 2,000 American adults, 65% cited a lack of interest in the events, 57% said no interest in athletes, and 40% said it was because China was hosting.

What percent is "all of the above?"

I only watch figure skating. Russian woman last night was amazing, first woman ever to do quads, and she landed three perfectly. Took a tumble on the 4th but won by substantial margin anyway.

Our wonderful Nathan Chen is on tonight. He bleeped up at the last Olympics, so has probably his last chance for a medal tonight. He’s won everything else for many many years, practices every day, carries a full load at Harvard with straight A’s. What’s not to like?

In a possible pointed snub from a world leader, Putin appeared to doze off when the Ukrainian athletes entered the stadium during the opening ceremony.
