To me, Q was always the name of a villain on “Star Trek,” played by John DeLancie.

I heard an oboe concerto in which the oboist was credited as John De Lancie. I thought “that can’t be Q from TNG!”. Turned out it was his (late) father who was a famed oboist in his day and had the same name as his son.
