Just a cheat sheet for the sudden proliferation of "the science has changed!!!" articles by folks trying to position themselves as the Reasonable Middle, which I'm seeing from every one of them so far. 1. They use March 2020 and March 2022 (or thereabouts) as the bookends, when in actuality the science/research on various aspects of the pandemic changed at different points *in between* those dates, and at different times, in stages. Some closer to the beginning, some later.
2. They ignore the difference between children and adults in terms of the risk of the virus itself and spreading it. This is key, because 'anti-mask' is a meaningless phrase. There has long been no excuse to mask young children, yet I still wear my mask on the subway.
3. They ignore the fact that in the risk assessments, we have been dealing with tradeoffs--to the health of children and young adults, the economic fortunes of the working class, the lives of immigrants, etc. Wiping out jobs also meant in many cases wiping out healthcare, etc.
There are more 'tells,' so to speak, that these folks are way out of their depth on the science, or else are knowingly misinforming readers so they can indulge their pride and not just admit that they're the ones learning stuff now that others learned already. But these are key.
I only point this out because we seem to be at the beginning of a fad of such articles, which amount to nothing more (so far!) than ideological axe-grinding and professional jealousy (you're going to have to learn to live with Bari's success, much as it kills you).
Also ppl who want to write these articles should use this as a guide as well. Here's how to avoid extreme hackery on Covid. You're welcome.
The kids thing is really probably the biggest tell, bc ppl keep trying to put ppl in anti-mask/anti-vax categories but the fundamentals are completely different for children and adults. I'm happily vaxxed, but absolutely will fight a vaxport for five year olds, you lunatics.
Similar w/masks: I don't feel strongly myself. It doesn't hurt me to wear my mask on the metro, where there's no air anyway, or indoors, where it seems to make some ppl feel more comfortable reentering society. But since we know it hurts kids in myriad ways, stop masking them.
But the discourse that just slots ppl into pro/anti-mask or pro/anti-vax that groups all ages together is deeply anti-science, and it would just be better if you stopped misinforming ppl. thnx.

IMO, Pat King has had a calming effect on the truckers. He is a long time activist who has a great love for his country. Pat’s sense of humor mingled with devastating facts regarding Trudeau, government officials and corruption is a perfect mix to red pill the populace. Also, he is personally paying the truckers with his own money after the government prevented his bank from wiring money to them directly.
This morning’s little “excursion” is a morale booster to relieve the tense situation truckers have had in Ottawa.
Also, he only has one leg, I don’t know if you know that.)
