Thats so funny - I too have several bottle of cachaca and its dreadful - a cross between tequila and rum. BUT a properly formulated caiparina is delightful. A lot like how a margarita can make rough tequila passable.
“I never run...might spill my drink”
Anon
Personal anecdote: Three of my grandparents lived to their mid-80s, one to his mid nineties. The three who lived to their mid eighties were all moderate drinkers- beer or wine on occasion. The one who lived to his mid-90s would come home from work every night and pour himself a glass of whiskey and keep refilling it until he went to bed. When he retired he would go down to the VFW hall a little after lunch most days and start drinking there, then come home pour himself a glass and keep it full. He did this from the time he came home from Europe after WWII until he could no longer drive himself to the VFW. Then he started drinking after breakfast until bed time.
Who knows how long he could have lived if not for the drinking? Except what killed him is he wouldn’t eat after my aunt died.
Hiy-Oh!!
Says Ed McMahon.
I used to sell MIS surgical equipment which we provided for gross anatomy lab work for physicians. I was talking to the director and asked where they got the cadavers. He said most of them were from unclaimed homeless alcoholics who had died. He said the veins of these cadavers were pristine. There were no plaque build ups, etc. He attributed it to the excessive and constant drinking. Of course he said nothing about their livers.
Their livers were ‘holy’..................
Lots of us drink in moderation.. I have a glass of red wine every night, sometimes two if I’m having dinner with a friend. Have done this for at least 20 - 30 years. My daughter does this too.
My son died last November from congestive heart failure caused by acute alcohol poisoning. He only drank beer.
So, drinking in moderation is being done if you’re not an alcoholic.
Hip-Hop meets Anime?........................
Nerd rap. I also listen to a lot of chap hop, steam punk, classical, 3rd wave prog, experimental, blues, jazz, orchestral, heathen, bagpipe, etc... It gets really random when Pandora is spinning the tunes.
Got Tom Waits on now. Yesterday is Now.
My wife and I have fond memories of our two years in the Açores.
Our Daughter was born there and it happens to be her birthday today.
He’s still alive?...................
I believe Jim Morrison said it first.................
Not! LOL
“...studies have suggested that low-to-moderate drinkers are less likely to have a heart attack than those who avoid drinking altogether...”

Says recent unbiased, totally neutral, financed study conducted by the American Association of Breweries and Distilleries. Hic...up...
Remember when butter and eggs went on the no no list? Its always something. If drinking red wine was so bad France would be depopulated.
In their study, the 8 “units” means about 4 drinks.
Anyway, it is a stupid study. There is a host of reasons why drinking might correlate to bad health outcomes that have nothing to do with the drinks being alcoholic. For example, beers have calories. Two British pints in a pub every night could mean over 400 extra calories per day. Make it 3 pints and it’s more calories than a Big Mac.
