How long can it last after surgery. Mine was 6 weeks ago and I am stumbling for words, worse than usual, that is.
TIA
Usually following surgery Patients spend time in the PACU (Pre Anesthesia Care Unit & Post Anesthesia Care Unit.) Once they are deemed to be ‘recovered’ from the Anesthesia they go to an ICU or a ‘Floor.’
I would suppose that problems of that nature should be made known to your PCP. Personally, I had very major heart surgery several years ago. They ‘woke me up’ simultaneously while extubating me. I have no memory of being on mechanical ventilation. That I think is normal.
Six weeks following a procedure is to me indicative that your medications might need to be adjusted. I have had to get mine done a long while ago. Well, maybe I'm inclined to know more because of my profession. The Docs, NPs, and others who take care of me usually appreciate the fact that I understand their lingo.
Definitely address this with your Physician.
My surgery was in summer 2019 and my memory is still somewhat impaired, and cognition. I’ll say the wrong word and think I said the right one, etc. A tiny percent of people get permanent damage.
Never again.
I got lucky after my surgery... but I take niacinimide. I read a long time ago it helps with memory.. not niacin, but the niacinimide.
After my surgery I woke up thinking to myself.. “don’t fight them” lol.
I take one in the am and one in the pm and find it really helps. Maybe placebo, who knows? Costs very little and no side effects.

General anesthesia knocks down your vitamin B.
Post-op, it is highly advisable to take vitamin B complex.
