Real life story in the Chronicle of Higher Education once—some grad students had to do various tasks in a research lab for the university’s grant project. As a couple of students on different work shifts went past the monkey cages the monkeys strained and reached out, slashing their upper arms.
The students came down with high fevers and weird symptoms and were in the hospital for a long time with organ damage. Grad students tried to form a union to get better safety guidelines enforced but it didn’t work out.
Not a good job to take.
There are some serious illnesses associated with monkeys, some fatal. I’d be worried the ‘pink eye’ is herpes related, something common in some types of monkeys.
The CDC was very quick to start issuing warnings and trying to contact people who might have come in contact with them, without proving much detail about health concerns. Wouldn’t be surprised if the monkeys were infected with some serious pathogens that the CDC will try to cover up.
Actual good advice. During a business trip in India got taken to Agra to see the Taj Mahal, the grounds of which are peopled by thousands of monkeys. We were told not to even look them in the eye as they would respond aggressively. One could run up and bite chunks off your face before you'd know what was happening. Nasty little buggers. They are only limited to throwing feces at visitors in the zoo because of the cage.
Monkey Express: When it absolutely, positively has to infect you overnight.
Who is trying to develop a new covid using monkeys? And who didn’t take extraordinary precautions so the monkeys wouldn’t escape?

What is Valtrex? Valtrex (valacyclovir) is an antiviral drug. It slows the growth and spread of the herpes virus to help the body fight the infection. Valtrex is used to treat infections caused by herpes viruses, including genital herpes, cold sores, and shingles (herpes zoster) in adults.
