A sub-variant of the omicron strain is reportedly in at least 40 countries and pushing the previous strain aside as its surge has finally declined slightly.
The "stealth" omicron variant -- any many scientists have referred to it -- has been difficult to identify due to a lack of genetic characteristics used to initially identify the omicron variant, according to World Health Organization member Vipin M. Vashishtha.
Omicron, known as B.1.1.529, has three subvariants: BA. 1, BA. 2, and BA. 3, with BA. 1 responsible for more than 99% of the cases amid the variant's surge and now BA.2 possibly on the rise, having been reported in the United Kingdtom and Scandinavia.
The original BA.1 is considered to be very contagious, however, researchers believe the BA.2 could be even more contagious.
"BA.2 shares 32 mutations w/ BA.1, but it also has 28 unique mutations," Vashishtha tweeted. "Some diff in S1. E is the same, N & M are diff in 1 mutation between the two variants. And...quite a difference when we go to OFT1ab."

Seems to be some contradiction in the first 3 paragraphs...
If it is stealth (as referred to in second paragraph), then how do they know it is pushing aside the initial variant as is indicated in title and first paragraph.
If the initial variant is responsible for 99% of the cases, is the “stealth” variant really pushing it aside?
Second paragraph says “possibly on the rise” Title and first paragraph indicate it is on the rise.
I thought cases in Europe were going down. And I did not think most tests could detect the difference in strains—and may not detect difference between COVID and flu...
BTW, anyone know recent flu stats?

Hopefully, given a milder variant like omicron became dominant and spread exponentially faster than all the others, this thing will soon have so many variants, derived only from Omicron and therefore more mild themselves (if not increasingly more so), as to be individually almost untraceable...and spreading so fast it will be less than not only pandemic, but even endemic as the number of hosts who can have significant symptoms due to previous immunities will be negligible.
That’s the trend...let’s pray this is what unfolds.

What I find so disappointing and drastic are the amounts of people who are driven by the Covid fear. This fear dictates their lives. Psychologically, this hype is working. I feel very sorry for the folks who succumb to it.
Just THANK GOD that we did not have this kind of a weak minded population during WW2, OMG can you even imagine!! Just wait until these hysterical, weak minded people have to deal with REALLY EMPTY store shelves ect. Katy bar the doors!!!
