The bed shortahge is because 95% of all hospital activity is now centered on outpatient services. The hospital has no beds. That's the problem. It's not like 1975 where a knee surgery admitted you for a week. Even heart surgery is outpatient services. The business model for today's hospitals does not admit much besides head on collisions with massive trauma.. Even gunshot wounds are outpatient services if no vital organs were damaged.
Most emergency rooms are staffed with Nurse Practitioners. The medical doctor is available by phone and computer.

The hospital business model designed for optimal revenue and quick turnaround.
No more inpatient wards. Onlt Competitive luxury rooms with high tech. Nurses shuffled constantly, on-the-spot low inventories. Designd by “experts” to maximize profits.

bed shortage is mostly nurse shortage.....just like when you go to a restaurant and many tables are open but they say you have to wait an hour.....they don’t have enough staff to take care of you.
