An endangered tiger was shot and killed in its zoo enclosure after biting a cleaner who had entered an 'unauthorized area' next to its cage.
Deputies arrived at Naples Zoo in Florida to find the animal with the man's arm in its mouth and said they were 'forced to shoot' to free him.
The maintenance worker was airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.
Collier County Sheriff's Office confirmed the victim was a man with a third-party cleaning service contracted by the zoo.
Reports suggest the Malayan tiger, named as eight-year-old Eko, had grabbed the man's arm after he reached through a fence barrier in an attempt to pet or feed the animal.
The sheriff's office said the first deputy on the scene tried to get the tiger to release the man after kicking the enclosure.
But when the tiger wouldn't release the man's arm, the officer was forced to shoot.
The tiger retreated into the back of the enclosure and was later pronounced dead.
A police spokesperson said: 'The first deputy on scene kicked the enclosure and tried to get the tiger to release the man's arm from its mouth but the deputy was forced to shoot the animal.'

I’m fully with the tiger. Damn zoos.
You’re speaking with a sense of humor. I get it.
You’re right, it could have been handled otherwise.
I merely intend to reinforce the ethical concept that human life is more valuable than animal life.
The cultural Marxists and other satanists have been pushing us in the other direction for who knows how long.
Fine.
But I notice you don’t dare argue against the basic point I made. That human life is worth more than an animal’s.
You also use humor. We all get it.
But don’t miss the serious point I’m making. That the cultural marxists and other types of weirdos have tried to sabotage our heritage and our values. And one of their tactics is to elevate animals above humans.
Do you understand how propaganda works?
I will explain it very concisely if needed.
“Is Jeffery Dahmers life worth more?”
Of course it is.
Do you not understand the very basics?

“Tigers gonna tiger.”
Some ten or twenty years ago, or more perhaps, this concept was perpetrated on us in television shows.
It pretends to exonerate an animal when the animal brings harm to people.
But it’s a distorted premise, because animals are not morally accountable, so exonerating them doesn’t make sense. This is a tiny part of the reason their lives are not valued in the way human lives are.
But marxism operates on an intellectual level far below this. It is unable to be involved in this discussion of the concept of moral accountability.
The lowest IQ is cultural marxism.
“and then sue the living crap out of moron and the company he works for.”
Then retire back to his native Guatamala.
I don’t deal in absolutes.
“I don’t deal in absolutes.”
You just did. With that statement.
Anyone who says “I don’t deal in absolutes” is refuting themselves.
It’s another of the many intellectual flaws in progressivism.
No I didn’t. I was speaking specifically to the incident in the article.
I advocated for the animal because the guy who was losing his arm is 100% responsible for what happened.
As for Dahmer perhaps if your child was killed and eaten by this sick, twisted bastard you might feel differently.
You don’t deal in absolutes but sometimes you do?
That sound moral reasoning will be lost here....I came to this thread to be amused by the DeFarges
Freepers
“Don’t shoot that kitty.....he’s just foolin”
I say Howdah time if the cat is leaping up on my elephant to swipe my head off...in my rice field
Freepers tickle me ....how much they swoon when stupids get hurt or killed
It’s like vindication of their boring lives....
I’m guilty too....in old age I am anyhow...more risk averse than when young
But reasonoffaith is correct.
We should value human life over beasts
Despite that human being stupid or reckless
Or that kitty being so magnificent a beast
Sucks
“You don’t deal in absolutes but sometimes you do?”
It is situational and therefore it cannot be an absolute
Private companies literally always can do anything better than public employees can and for less
That is not why this happened
It happened because the employee was naive and careless...I’m betting he or she had petted the kitty before
If the cop had just fired his weapon into the concrete at the back of the enclosure, the tiger probably would have released the guys arm just from the report of the shot being fired.
