Hopefully they will re-air it. I was really disappointed that I hadn’t heard anything about it. I just happen to stumble on it while ‘surfing’ the channels. When it was over I looked everywhere for it...no links, nothing.
OK, now this sucks. Offsets the uplift I was feeling over Dingy Harry........
This one makes me sad. Harry? Not so much.
he did all the big games, but especially remember the Thanksgiving games....
He’s reunited with his broadcasting partner Pat Summerall. I grew up watching him broadcast on CBS and then on Fox. He will be sorely missed by all football fans. RIP
Dingy took the dirt nap??...i did not know that....
LOL There’s about a half dozen threads on it so far, and counting. Yep, Harry is in the Lake of Fire now.
Probably the only Master of Fine Arts graduate who graced American football. Behind his Everyman charm hid the keenest brain; he was an intellectual, but he never shoved it down your throat. We shall never see his like again.
The funniest Madden bit I’ve seen was when the tech for the commentators to draw on the TV screen came into existence.
There was a pregame camera feed walking around the tailgate area and showed someone’s set up with a grill, stove, etc.
Madden goes off on one of his rants “This is how it’s done, The brat goes in the bun” then he circles the brat and draws an arrow to the bun, then draws an arrow to the mustard...commented on the whole thing.
ha ha !!...i can def see that!!...hilarious...
Just a year younger than Hank Aaron was.
I always enjoyed his analysis. He broke down plays and showed how they worked or didn’t work.
I still laugh when I recall the Cardinals game Madden called when one of the AZ runningbacks (can't remember his name now, as they all have come and gone so quickly over the years) lost his dreadlock when one of the Carolina Panthers yanked it out. Madden diagrammed the entire incident with his electronic pen and played it all back in slo-mo. It was hysterical.
If you haven’t ever seen the movie ‘The Replacements’, I highly recommend it. Based loosely on the NFL strike in the 80s. Anyway, Madden and Summerall call every game and I don’t know if it was scripted or not but Madden was 100% himself in that movie. Very funny stuff!
He traveled in a special, custom bus/motorhome, everywhere. Wouldn’t fly.
I was really enjoying this thread until you mentioned “Keith Olberman”.
Bad form, FRiend. Total boner killer.
Yeah, when I came across the special, I thought the same thing: 'is he dead?' did he die?' etc. And now this. The article said the death was sudden and no details have been released. Weird
One of a kind, who helped project the NFL into the television stratosphere. Al Michaels is also very good at his job, although with a different style, and the two of them together were terrific.
