Andrew Cuomo ordered to return $5.1M pandemic book profits to state
New York’s ethics watchdog panel ordered disgraced ex-Gov. Andrew Cuomo to return the $5.1 million in profits from his pandemic book deal to the state next month.
The extraordinary resolution was approved Tuesday by the Joint Commission on Public Ethics in a 12-1 vote — coming a month after the ethics agency voted to revoke its prior approval allowing Cuomo to earn outside income from his book, “American Crisis: Leadership Lessons from the COVID-19 Pandemic” while he was still governor and New York was still battling the deadly viral bug.

I have no sympathy for either of the Cuomo brothers, but I believe the ex-governor is being treated unfairly. It seems that his property, the $5.1 million he was authorized to receive while governor, now is being taken by the vote of an administrative agency. I am not aware that Cuomo had a hearing or had any opportunity to object to this decision. Thus, it seems his property has been taken without due process. I don’t see Cuomo simply rolling over and paying the money to the State. I do wonder how Cuomo likes the feeling of being canceled and driven into the wilderness by those who heaped praise on him until it no longer was politically expedient?

Um, I despise Cuomo as much as the next guy but...how is this legal? His book, his income.

You write a book, you take the earnings from the book, irrespective of if you are governor or not.
He used state resources and state paid staffers to help write the book on state taxpayer time

Don’t let them fool you, that book was written by Staff on State Time and the Editors did the rest. It is all a ruse, and, frankly, I think the $5 Million should go to all of the families who lost loved ones due to Prince Andrew’s despicable and criminal behavior.

Yea, what's so hard to understand here. It's like having your staff wash cars during their work day and you get the money, except you don't, because it's illegal and or unethical but regardless, against state rules.
