Researchers have shown that new fluoride-free toothpastes with hydroxyapatite can provide equivalent protection to those containing fluoride.
Kelsey O'Hagan-Wong, a second-year pediatric dentistry resident, was the first author of a review paper that investigated the efficacy of fluoride-free hydroxyapatite toothpastes on re-mineralizing and therefore repairing teeth. Through her research, she found that hydroxyapatite toothpastes appear to demonstrate either its superiority or equivalency to fluoride toothpaste as anti-caries agents.
Typically, fluoride is used in the prevention of dental caries, but due to the decreased acceptance among the public and the risk of fluorosis in children, there is the need for effective alternatives. Hydroxyapatite is the main mineral of human tooth enamel and can be used in toothpastes as a biomimetic active ingredient.
"Fluoridated toothpaste is often a concern for very young kids who are more likely to swallow it," says O'Hagan-Wong.
"The problem is kids are getting cavities, so there needs to be an alternate solution."
Hydroxyapatite products can be considered as an alternative in young children where fluorosis is a concern. The challenge, says O'Hagan-Wong, is the toothpastes are often expensive, difficult to obtain and not well-known.
"Although this toothpaste has been on the market for a while, most people are unaware of it," she says. "Hopefully with more knowledge, it can be used to prevent cavities."
O'Hagan-Wong believes more can be added to fluoride-free toothpastes to further improve and protect teeth. Her master's research involves looking at adding a special protein to hydroxyapatite toothpaste that can help rebuild the tooth and prevent further decay.

I just looked and it appears the FDA has approved the US version of Biomin F and the Dr. Collins site appears to be where it will now be available. Interesting!
Its what i use
It can help repair your teeth
we should not allow fluoride near our precious bodily fluids

wow, I just cannot imagine a world without fluoride.
I was so glad back in the 90s when the govt mandated that our town Spring which which had water more pure than any water around be replaced by local chemically treated utility water for ‘Reasons’ we voted against that, and so they levied fines until compliance was forced.
The US Biomin F version is only available through dentists, so the next best is from Canada.
My wife and I brush our teeth together at the same time because 4 out of 5 dentists say brushing alone isn’t enough.

What started me on my awakening was someone I dated recommending two documentaries to me, one on fluoride and the other on our food supply. I branched out from there. Was always a Conservative though.

Ha! Ha! Good one!
I went to a periodontist for a deep gum clean because I wasn’t taking care of my bridges and he told me to throw my toothpaste away due to the abrasive material in it. He wanted me to brush my teeth with mouthwash. Tried it for a couple weeks and couldn’t get used to it and went back.

Kids growing up there would develop the West Texas Bar across their two front teeth.
Dentist there could not make a living filling cavities.
Somewhere in the 90's, the Feds made them start filtering the water to bring the floride levels down.
The West Texas Bar went away for future generations except for ranch families.
The Bar was a way to tell someone was from Andrews.
Note also that Andrews County was one of the areas around the US that was studied that allowed fluoridation of drinking water and floride added to toothpaste.
For years, my husband and I have used an Indian Ayurvedic toothpaste, Vicco Vajradanti . My gums have never been better. Takes some getting used to, but after we’d tried it for a while, we never went back to the stuff we’d used before.
