Ping!
I looked at a bottle. Even the cheap stuff has warnings.
Melatonin is generally safe for short-term use. Unlike with many sleep medications, with melatonin you are unlikely to become dependent, have a diminished response after repeated use (habituation), or experience a hangover effect.
The most common melatonin side effects include:
Headache
Dizziness
Nausea
Drowsiness
Other, less common melatonin side effects might include short-lasting feelings of depression, mild tremor, mild anxiety, abdominal cramps, irritability, reduced alertness, confusion or disorientation, and abnormally low blood pressure (hypotension). Because melatonin can cause daytime drowsiness, don’t drive or use machinery within five hours of taking the supplement.
In addition, melatonin supplements can interact with various medications, including:
Anticoagulants and anti-platelet drugs
Anticonvulsants
Contraceptive drugs
Diabetes medications
Medications that suppress the immune system (immunosuppressants)
I DON’T WANT TO DIIIIIIEEEEEEEYYYYY!!!!!!!!!!!
Ping.
I have been taking it.
Don’t know about the health stuff, but it gives me vivid, epic dreams.
Melatonin is the Devil.
Heart pounding, dripping sweating, sit up fast at 0300 nightmares...
First glance, I thought it said melanin, and thought it was going to be another attack on whiteness.

Melatonin was one of the things the Docs gave to President Trump, when he had COVID-19. I believe it was 10 mg. Before bed.
I thought that was a large dose, but he is a big man, and it turns out to be the same dose as this study. Personally, I occasionally use 1-3 mg, when I need some particularly good sleep (jet lag or illness). I don’t want to get dependent on taking pills, and have my natural production decline, from using it routinely, and/or in high doses. 10 mg would give me some awesome sleep.
It is cheap, and easily available over the counter. I definitely plan to pound some every night, if I get a symptomatic case of COVID.
The results of this study were surprisingly strong.
I have had an unused bottle for a few weeks now. Just took my first one. Hopefully I will sleep better. I did take it with whiskey - lol so we will see. thanks for post this informative article.
