The parents of the teen accused in this week's deadly Michigan high school shooting were arrested early Saturday in Detroit, authorities said, ending an hourslong search for them after they failed to appear in court on involuntary manslaughter charges in the killings.
James and Jennifer Crumbley, the parents of Oxford High School shooting suspect Ethan Crumbley, were found on the first floor of an industrial or commercial building after someone tipped police Friday night that their vehicle was nearby, police officials said.
"They appeared to be hiding in the building," some 40 miles south of the Oxford area where they live, Detroit Police Chief James White said during a news conference early Saturday. They were "very distressed" after they were detained, the chief said.

Why are the parents being arrested?
Good catch.
Thanks.
Then on Tuesday — the day of the shooting — a different teacher
became alarmed after the alleged shooter had a drawing that showed a
semiautomatic handgun pointing at the words, “The thoughts won’t
stop. Help me,” McDonald said.
Another section displayed a drawing of a bullet with the words
“Blood Everywhere” written above it. Between the drawing of the
gun and the bullet is one of a person who seems to have been shot
twice and is bleeding, McDonald said. “Below that figure is a
drawing of a laughing emoji,” McDonald said.
Also found on the note, according to McDonald: “My life is useless” and “The world is dead.”
the prosecutors are alleging that the parents acted recklessly by providing a gun to someone they knew was a hight risk to kill someone. Reckless Homicide, also referred to as Involuntary Manslaughter.
I guess day not dade afterall.
Yep, just hiding out.
I agree with everyone on the tenuousness of charges against these dopes, but they’re doomed. Evidence of flight is admissible to show consciousness of guilt. They just did what was needed to seriously bolster a weak case
I’m wondering whether they were caught outside of the jurisdiction in which they were charged. Did they leave home because they were afraid of harm? Were they actually ‘charged’ when they left? Lots of questions. But in all, what they’ve ended up with will go against them.
I still think the ‘manslaughter’ charge is overdone. And were I on a jury I’d not vote guilty if the penalty and sentencing could go the 15 years. Charge them with something else. Criminal negligence, reckless endangerment, etc.
They committed no crime.
They are being railroaded by a progressive Soros prosecutor.
A “MANHunt”???
CNN is making a lot of assumptions there. How could they possibly know that James Crumbley isn’t undergoing a “transition” and prefers to be called “she/xi”?
Are they calling Jennifer Crumbley a “man”? Maybe she prefers being a woman, so the “man” descriptor is really dehumanizing and insulting. But isn’t “woman” just a social construct?
All in all, this is mighty presumptuous of CNN and they clearly need a lot of remedial WOKE training.
that is not a straw purchase
how many parents buy guns for their children
they are all guilty of a straw purchase?
They deserve to be in jail for providing a 9mm handgun to a crazed 15 year old 🤪
Add extra charges for eluding
In Michigan can the act of "aiding a fugitive" prove the charge of manslaughter? Sometimes laws are bizarre.
In principle, depending on the context, sure.
I wouldn't say "prove," but an element of the criminal negligence could be knowing the character of the killer, knowing the killer intends to kill, and doing nothing about it.
Negligence is a broad concept - act as a reasonable person would in the same or similar circumstance is the standard under civil law. Things turn toward criminal when a person is indifferent about death and mayhem that a person has the ability to mitigate.
Tough thing here is we don't have any handle at all about the kid's behavior over say the last year. It's possible that no reasonable person would have expected this kid to act out this way.
Similar with school admin - maybe they saw things as kid having a bad week, need to get some counseling.
Criminal negligence resulting in death is a summary of (the applicable) Michigan’s statutory definition of involuntary manslaughter.
Most often applied in DUI cases, where there is a death. Without a death, it (can be) criminal negligence. Same for a sober person racing on the sidewalk in the wee hours - nobody there, but man, that is criminally negligent/reckless.
I think it’s likely that the DA got some calls from gun grabbers complaining about the kid escaping from justice, and may have overreached here. But maybe Michigan law applies specifically to this kind of situation.
That doesn’t mean she knew
It means she feared he might do something like that
You have a kid bullied mercilessly by mean sadistic kids
You are gonna worry what they might do
Especially in the video game world where violence is antiseptic
That’s irrelevant now....down the memory hole...
Just as planned
Instead it’s this insanity state pursuit of the parents
It should scare Freepers
It will some ....but the pitchforks and torches brigade won’t care
They never do
Thank you
I am more concerned about the 15 years thing.
