On Tuesday, police did a drug sting (with dogs and all) at one of FWISDs problem middle schools. They recovered a trove of drugs and weapons. Wednesday, at the same school, a student threatened administrators that he was going to come back with his gang and shoot up the place after admins broke up a fight.
FWISD has a long-standing problem with this school, and it is about to blow just like the one down the street did. If you have any relatives working in FWISD at these troubled schools, talk to them and make sure they have an escape plan. FWISD is really sitting on this and keeping it quiet. You might think these are just kids, but you would be surprised at how old and how big some of them are. And, they do catch people on the property who don't belong there.
Many public schools are merely apprenticeships for prison.

Long ago in the 80’s I had a conversation with a middle school teacher about ‘Social Promotions’ which was a hot topic of the times.
He said, “If I had MY way, we’d have 18 year old sixth graders!”

No. They never do until it gets out into the public, or someone gets shot like they did a couple of months ago.
The threat is actionable and the “kid” should be arrested.
Actually when I was in school many moons ago, we had a 17yo in 9th grade. I knew Fred, he was a nice guy just a tad retarded. He got drafted and got seriously hurt in basic unfortunately falling off the cargo net on the obstacle course.
There was no social promotion then.
Speaking of ages, Europe has learned the hard way that all ‘refugees’ are 16 or younger, including those who are more than half bald.
We had a few slow students at my small town school, but they were usually withdrawn and sent to a special ed school. We had a kid in 3rd grade who was twice as big as we were. He was probably 13 or so when he came in as a ‘new’ student when his family moved to town. We could tell he was ‘not all there’ even though we were only 9 or so. He lasted about a month before he was sent elsewhere....................
WTF does that mean?
Years ago I referred to my son’s public high school as a combination Zoo-Prison-Circus.
