Usually he is a lot of fun. Since covid hit my brother’s household, I’ve been stepping up to see him daily. Today was a bit tedious though. First off, he was still napping, I think, when I went by at 4. Have I mentioned he lives alone? He likes that and he likes spreading his projects about without having to worry about inconveniencing others. So, I ran an errand and went back. This time he was up.
I checked the yogurt and it was perfect. He had bought a small rice cooker for the process, but there was such a great quantity that I grabbed a deep pot and dumped it in there. Then, I wrapped it up in towels and hoped for the best. We were rewarded. Sometimes, for whatever reason, yogurt doesn’t yoog. This yooged beautifully. During the errand I bought quart jars. I used four and threw away about a cup extra.
Next, I began straightening out some confusion on ONE of his computers. That’s the discouragment. He fell for the machinations of some scammers a few years ago. Ever since, he has become convinced that he is still being targeted by them and they create mischief on all his machines. He doesn’t have any financial records on his machines, but he feels that they have put some trojan into the bowels of the devices and now have free rein. There is nothing we can do to disabuse him of this notion. Most of the file jumbles are caused by him not seeing clearly and making errors.
I spent hours today recovering his apple id and getting his iPad reconnected. I have a brand new iMac to set up as well as a new laptop. Those last are still in the box. He wants the machines, but is scared the scammers will attack them as well. So, he is waiting to get up the nerve to set them up.
He did try to take me to dinner again. But, he had already eaten so I turned him down.
I enjoy your dad stories.
HA HA, he sounds like a riot. Sticking to his guns on his scammer people.
I had the same problem with a computer. Years ago, I was on a site, forget the name but you could connect to people around the world.
I was connected with people in the UK.
Well, somehow, they had control of my cursor and I couldn’t get out of the program. I tried to shut it off and it wouldn’t shut off, so I unplugged it.
Told my son I wasn’t turning it on again, someone was in there. LOL.
He brought a buddy over and the both of them reprogrammed the whole computer.
I think the both thought I was nut.
I have never made yogurt before; do you have a special recipe?
You are such a sweet sister to help him so much :-)
