Imagine this: Alabama loses a heartbreaker on Saturday. It makes Georgia sweat, taking a lead deep into the third quarter and nearly handing the powerhouse Bulldogs their first loss.
In postgame press conferences, both Nick Saban and Kirby Smart say the Crimson Tide prove they are one of the four best teams in the country, if not No. 2.
What does the College Football Playoff committee do? Does it buck history and invite a two-loss team for the first time? Does it pass on the big brand that is Alabama with the likely Heisman Trophy winner in quarterback Bryce Young?

There are no arguments regarding the Super bowl contestants.
The college playoffs without Alabama would be like Christmas without 24 hours of Rudy on TBS................................
Cincinnati (12-0) beat Notre Dame.
Cincinnati would have to lose to #16 Houston on December 04 to get evicted from the Top Four teams.
Was Sean Astin ever in any other movie?..........................
Re: Georgia strength of schedule has been very weak.
Disagree.
They beat 4 ranked teams.
Also, not their fault that their annual rival Florida is having a bad year.
Are those 4 teams ranked now? I don’t think so. Also, the offenses they faced are atrocious for the most part.
The good news is it will be settled in a few days. I predict a much closer game than people are thinking, with GA pulling it out in a close one near the end by relying on a ball control running game, wearing down Alabama’s front seven, and scoring a late touchdown to put it away.
27 - 17.
Who cares?
And, will it prevent Covid?
And, what does that lab-rat Fauchi have to say?
(Sorry, but just feeling a bit disgusted.)
Among others he was in the three Lord of the Rings movies.
I don’t watch those kinds of movies..................
Alabama lost to Texas A&M who lost to LSU who lost to UCLA who lost to Fresno State who lost to Hawaii who lost to UNLV who lost to Eastern Washington who lost to Weber State who lost to Portland State who lost to Sacramento State . . .
I’m beginning to wonder if even a one loss Bama should even be invited to a bowl
“Was Sean Astin ever in any other Movie?..........................”
He had a sizable role in Season 5 of “24”. But he was killed by nerve gas about halfway thru.
Good...................
The dogs haven’t played anyone with Bama’s capable level of offense.
It’s just about the only thing we’ve been talking about at work this morning. My not be relevant to you as news, but it is to a lot of us.
Georgia beat Auburn, which is no longer ranked.
However, Auburn played six ranked teams, which includes four teams in the Top Ten, so Auburn was not a push over.
I have always been an Alabama fan, but this year, Alabama is just a good team - it is NOT a dominant team.
I will be pleased - but surprised - if they beat Georgia next week.
Face it, the SEC Championship game IS the National Championship game. Just sucks that whoever wins will be limping into the National Championship against... whichever team.
Alabama’s playoffs start on Saturday against Georgia. If they lose, they are out. Unless Michigan trips up against Iowa.
That’s too bad. I generally don’t either, however, the Lord of the Rings Trilogy is simply magnificant, outstanding and worth watching every bit of it.
Agreed, but it might take more than Michigan losing.
If Alabama wins, and it is close, both Alabama and Georgia are in.
I see Lincoln Riley chickened out.
