Top News: Moderna chief predicts existing vaccines will struggle with Omicron
Stéphane Bancel, the chief executive of Moderna, has predicted that existing vaccines will be much less effective at tackling Omicron than earlier strains of coronavirus and warned it would take months before pharmaceutical companies could manufacture new variant-specific jabs at scale. Bancel said the high number of Omicron mutations on the spike protein and the rapid spread of the variant in South Africa suggested that the current crop of vaccines may need to be modified next year. “There is no world, I think, where [the effectiveness] is the same level we had with [the] Delta [variant],” Bancel said. The Moderna executive said scientists were worried because 32 of the 50 mutations in the Omicron variant are on the spike protein, which current vaccines focus on to boost the human body’s immune system to combat COVID. Most experts thought such a highly mutated variant would not emerge for another year or two, Bancel added. Moderna and Pfizer have become the suppliers of choice for most of the developed world due to the high effectiveness of their vaccines, which are based on messenger RNA (mRNA) technology. Bancel said data indicating how existing vaccines performed against the Omicron variant, and whether it caused severe disease, should become available within 2 weeks. He said it would take several months before an Omicron-specific vaccine could be produced at scale, and suggested there might be a case for giving more potent boosters to the elderly or people with compromised immune systems in the meantime. CDC expands COVID-19 booster recommendations
CDC Director Rochelle Walensky, MD, on Monday announced the agency is strengthening its recommendation on booster doses for individuals who are aged 18 years and older. Everyone aged 18 and older should get a booster dose either when they are 6 months after their initial Pfizer or Moderna series or 2 months after their initial J&J vaccine. The recent emergence of the Omicron variant (B.1.1.529) further emphasizes the importance of vaccination, boosters, and prevention efforts needed to protect against COVID-19. Early data from South Africa suggest increased transmissibility of the Omicron variant, and scientists in the United States and around the world are urgently examining vaccine effectiveness related to this variant. “I strongly encourage the 47 million adults who are not yet vaccinated to get vaccinated as soon as possible and to vaccinate the children and teens in their families as well because strong immunity will likely prevent serious illness,” said Walensky. “I also want to encourage people to get a COVID-19 test if they are sick. Increased testing will help us identify Omicron quickly.” (Read More)
For the record all those “dangerous” studies about high dose niacin concern niacinamide and not nicotinic acid.

FYI I have NOT coached on this newest protocol, nor have I tried it myself. I’m comfortably taking 3g niacin a day now with the slightest of tingles (desired for me). I also take NAC (600mg) twice a day and Chaga twice a day (in coffee). BTW, Chaga powder is nearly tasteless and does not change the flavor of coffee. 👍
I’m having great success with a melatonin, DMSO, and magnesium chloride solution on the skin. It’s pulling out “age spots” on my face and arms. So far I can’t tell the any benefits for sun damaged skin, but I expected that to take a lot of time anyway. Another solution with aloe juice, melatonin and hyaluronic acid is also very nice and luxurious.
It is all out there now for everyone to see. Prayers the dam breaks fast!

If we’re being honest, I found that large doses of 1-3 grams should be monitored by a doctor but...
“Is it dangerous to take 500 mg of niacin daily?
But niacin (as nicotinic acid) in doses higher than 500 mg daily can cause severe side effects, including liver damage, diabetes, gastritis, and an elevation in blood levels of uric acid (which can cause gout).”
I’m willing to do up to 500mg a day but not 1-3 grams unless advised by my doctor. I have asthma, an irregular heartbeat at times, and low thyroid. I would love to be able to do it but at higher doses than 500mg I want my doctor involved.
I think it’s great if it works for a person without other health issues but I’m cautious with stuff like that.
