Is Liz Cheney “woke”? I had the impression that she was a pretty solid conservative. Isn’t the main issue that she isn’t buying Trump’s stolen election claims and that she thinks Trump has some culpability for what occurred on Jan. 6th? I guess there are a good number of Republicans who agree with her on these two points, but tow the line on the election and Jan. 6th (or dance around it) simply because they don’t want to lose their job.

It's one thing to have qualms about President Trump's claims, but quite another to have a personal vendetta against him that gets in the way of everything else.
Most Republicans then or now would have agreed that Lincoln saved the union and freed the slaves, but they wouldn’t stick in all the little qualifiers that you do, like “all about”. Then or now, they understood that things were more complex than such childish oversimplifications.

On a side note, one of the reasons I was anti-Ann Coulter long BEFORE it was cool to do so is her pathetic pandering on BOTH sides of this issue. Either “our party freed the slaves” or “the civil war had nothing to do with slavery, it was about states rights”, depending on what audience Ann Coulter happened to be talking to on any given day (apparently she’s also on both sides of the “Jews are God’s chosen people and God loves ‘em all no matter what/Jews need to convert to Christianity to be saved” debate)
