We know how this ends: Coronavirus becomes endemic, and we live with it forever. But what we don’t know—and what the U.S. seems to have no coherent plan for—is how we are supposed to get there. We’ve avoided the hard questions whose answers will determine what life looks like in the next weeks, months, and years: When are restrictions lifted? And what long-term measures do we keep, if any, when we reach endemicity?

Here are some answers I got from scientific experts: hospitalizations and deaths, but stratified by age and vaccination status; a combination of vaccination rate and local transmission; a combination of vaccination rate and hospitalizations; a combination of long-COVID cases, hospitalizations, and deaths; a combination of case growth rate, testing uptake, vaccination rate, and hospitalizations. San Francisco and seven other Bay Area counties recently set three-pronged criteria for lifting indoor mask mandates: (1) Community transmission is moderate, as defined by the CDC, for at least three weeks, (2) hospitalization numbers are low and stable, and (3) 80 percent of the total population is fully vaccinated or eight weeks have passed since COVID-19 vaccines have been available for kids age 5 to 11.

To prevent hospitals from being overwhelmed, the key group we need to vaccinate is really the elderly. The risk of hospitalization for an unvaccinated person over 80 is 25 times that for an unvaccinated person under 18. A Financial Times analysis of data from the U.K. found vaccinating 25,000 children had the same effect on hospitalizations as vaccinating just 800 adults over age 60. Unvaccinated elderly adults are just that much more likely to become severely ill with COVID-19. You can’t compensate for a low vaccination rate among older adults by vaccinating more people in younger groups, says Müge Çevik, a virologist at the University of St. Andrews.

Research has shown that as many as 80% of COVID hospitalization patients are deficient in vitamin D.
Despite the popular press coverage Ivermectin is shown in many studies to be effective in treating COVID when given soon after infection.
Just another propaganda piece to support the forced vaccination of the entire populace.
That’s how diseases are sent away....with vaccinations.
Start with smallpox and polio. If you need links let me know.
Deploying a leaky, non sterilizing vaccine into the middle of a pandemic is not a great idea, from what I’ve read.
THIS is NOT the same as small pox and Polio...and I think you know that.
These Vaccinations don’t do that. They almost did pre delta, but Delta laughs in the Vaccines face.
The Main Vector of Viral Spread in Singapore is the “Fully Vaccinated”
This aint Smallpox or Polio. The only way out here is NATURAL IMMUNITY.
From day one I’ve just been living with it like it’s this year’s version of the flu. I don’t mask, I’m not the least bit interested in getting vaccinated, and I live my life as I did 10 years ago. Heck I’ve never had a flu shot either.
If you can show me where a RNA virus has ever been ‘Sent Away’ by a vaccine I would be interested.
The whole reason the drug companies are perusing the mRNA technique is the CORNA viruses are not stopped by traditional vaccines.
And I think that the breakthrough infections show that the mRNA technique is a flop.
We don’t even need to get into the ADE discussion and how that wrinkle is biting the drug companies in the ass.

I wish they coulda placed this at the beginning instead of the end - woulda saved me 3 minutes of my life in skimming this garbage.
Thanks for posting - know thy enemy, etc.
These are shots, not vaccines. Get a grip.
Yeah, well you read an incorrect source.
That’s the French guy moving to China to study Highly diluted DNA teletransporting electromagnetic qualities to water in a separate tube?
There are so many whack jobs out there...hard to keep them all straight.

Deaths involving COVID in the U.S. increased by some 216% in September 2021, compared to September 2020, at which time no one in the country had yet been vaccinated. This trend, which was witnessed in every state but one, appears to have continued into October 2021.
America has "lost the plot on COVID" alright. This coming winter may well drive that point home . . . and right between the eyes of some.
They provide immunity and are very much vaccines.
The people walking their dog by themselves at six am with a mask on have nothing but contempt for someone like you, simply because you don't quake in your boots like they do over this.
My local hospital, because of the number of COVID patients, has no more bed space. Now, if you need to be in a bed, you are out in the hall on a portable one. The Delta Variant is a harsh taskmaster.
I got my first Moderna in Jan 2021.
Second in Feb. Booster/third last week.
I will be sure to stop by and let you know how healthy I am periodically. 😂😂😂
Soon we may not have to just read about it.
It's the vaccinations that are prolonging the covid pandemic.
While vaxxed people get Covid again? Or pass it on?
Do you believe flu shots are vaccines?
OMG, the stupid hurts.
Start with smallpox and polio, end with the flu. The problem is that smallpox and polio are not valid comparisons to a virus that has animal reservoirs and is already endemic in the environment.
Studies have shown that natural immunity is very random post covid. Some have tons, others have none.
Historically human corona viruses have always had very short immune periods, about three months.
Other viruses don’t mutate like rna viruses do, but nevertheless eradication of viral disease has always been successful with vaccination.
