“FDA Approves First Oral Blood Thinning Medication for Children”
Today, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration approved Pradaxa (dabigatran etexilate) oral pellets to treat children 3 months to less than 12 years old with venous thromboembolism (a condition where blood clots form in the veins) directly after they have been treated with a blood thinner given by injection for at least five days. The FDA also approved Pradaxa oral pellets to prevent recurrent clots among patients 3 months to less than 12 years old who completed treatment for their first venous thromboembolism.
In addition, Pradaxa was approved in capsule form to treat blood clots in patients eight years and older with venous thromboembolism directly after they have been treated with a blood thinner given by injection for at least five days, and to prevent recurrent clots in patients eight years and older who completed treatment for their first venous thromboembolism.
Pradaxa is the first FDA-approved blood thinning medication that children can take by mouth; the only other approved blood thinning medication for children is given by injection. Pradaxa was originally approved in 2010 to reduce the risk of stroke and systemic embolism in adult patients with non-valvular atrial fibrillation.

I really, really, hope you don't take this the wrong way. IMO, slavery, which has been going on forever and still continues to this day, is evil and wrong. How can one human being possibly own another human being? The concept boggles the mind. But, I hate the re-writing of history almost as much as slavery, so please bear with me as I rant...
There are many points to the “Confederacy=bad” meme that have driven me crazy for a long time.
Slavery is evil, do we really need to discuss that? Slavery was common practice in many countries, by many peoples, way before America was a country and still continues to this day. But, only the southern American states are condemned. It was Africans who captured and sold their fellow Africans into slavery. Is that ever mentioned?
The actual cause of the Civil War started about 25 years (early 1830's) before the first shot was fired. It was over unfair tariffs, i.e. taxation. That was the original cause.
Abraham Lincoln did not run on a platform of abolishing slavery. In his first inaugural address he explicitly stated he had no desire to abolish slavery. He did not mention slavery until he was running for re-election, the war was going badly for the North, and he came up with the “Emancipation Proclamation”.
By the 1860s, the South was paying the overwhelming majority of federal revenues. There was no income tax and the primary source of government revenues was from duties on European imports that disproportionately fell on Southerners, the vast majority of whom did not own a single slave. The revenue raised by Southern trade with Europe was being fleeced from the South and sent North through the House of Representatives to finance the industrialization of the North. The North sought to subsidize its inefficient manufacturing industry at the expense of the South and to divert trade with the Western states away from a low tariff Southern Confederacy. Economics, not slavery was the cause of the War Between the States. The North was enriching itself at the expense of the South and sought to use the tariff issue to divert European trade to Northern ports, at the expense of the South. That is precisely what caused the War Between the States.
Slavery as an issue in the war did not even arise until well into the middle of the conflict. Lincoln himself said on NUMEROUS occasions that he had no intention whatsoever of interfering with the slavery institution of the Southern states. Lincoln proposed a Constitutional Amendment in 1861 that would have legalized slavery forever, as he cited in his own inaugural address. He DID state however that he was entirely unwilling to negotiate regarding tariffs on imported European goods, the PROTECTIONISM that was the bread and butter of his own Northern financiers. Lincoln was more than willing to work out a deal with the South regarding slavery. Lincoln said himself that if he could save the Union and collect his tariff he was more than willing to come to an agreement with regards to slavery.
As well as high tariffs between the Southern states and European countries there were higher tariffs on goods from the North sold to the Southern states. This was solely to increase Northern profits, the profits of Northern manufacturers and the politicians they bankrolled like Abraham Lincoln.
The Civil War was a contest between the North and the South over the desire of the North to create a strong centralized federal government, a dictatorship, at the economic and political expense of the South. The war was not fought for any moralistic reason in the least. It was fought on one side for independence and on the other side for the desire to financially exploit other populations, as was no doubt proven beyond a shadow of a doubt by the conduct of the North after the war.
Our public schools have been re-writing this history for decades, so long now that few know the original cause of the Southern states to secede from the Union. Re-writing history is never a good thing. Forgetting history is never a good thing.
My apologies if this offends anyone but history is history. Now, don't get me going on the 1619 Project crock o' poo.
