Hilaria Baldwin is "very worried" about her husband Alec Baldwin.

The actor, 63, is "haunted" by the death of cinematographer Halyna Hutchins, who died last month on the set of the movie Rust after Alec set off a gun that should not have contained a real bullet, a source tells PEOPLE.

"Hilaria is very worried about him," the source says. "He is not really sleeping and just haunted by Halyna's death."

He’s an actor. Cynical I know, but consider his history.

PTSD is a tough road especially if the shooter never thinks such a situation would happen. Only patience and time will heal and talking it out with a certified therapist.
Hopefully he will be getting plenty of time to talk it out with his new jail mates.

...Halyna Hutchins, who died last month on the set of the movie Rust after Alec set off a gun that should not have contained a real bullet...

That is certainly a minimalist way of stating the facts.

...Halyna Hutchins, who can no longer be reached for comment after a prop malfunction last month on the set of the movie "Rust."

Am surprised that Baldwin's publicist didn't insist upon formulating it that way.

AFAIK with this type of revolver the only way to safely check if a round is live is to take it out of the cylinder.
But even if the round was a blank it would be unsafe to fire while the gun was pointing towards anyone, or simply forward of the muzzle, especially at close range.
It only takes a few seconds to spin the cylinder to check all the chambers are empty. Baldwin didn’t bother.

How does a doggone live round end up in a prop gun? The moron inept gun handler should’ve checked that gun just before the prop use. Alec should have also checked that gun and not pointed directly at the camera woman. Lotta sloppy and deadly mistakes of negligence. We despise his arrogant leftism but he had no intention of killing with that gun. Tragedy caused by negligence of safety checks however not ruling out possible malice by disgruntled union workers who walked off the job.

Alec is, “how you say”, the real victim.

“... I have no doubt that he will be haunted for the rest of his life..”

I disagree. To be “haunted” by an event like this, you have to have a conscience. You have to be a “good” person. You have to actually see the loss of a life, the loss of a parent etc... Baldwin can’t. He’s an actor. He is reacting the way his PR machine that I assure you is in place.. is telling him to do. He is trying to prevent a civil case and trying to prevent his “audience” from “cancelling” him. He will say, do, profess, cry on demand, look the part of a haunted person for the popularity and “forgiveness” of his audience. “Awwww, poor Alec” is what he and his public relations team wants to see and hear. I’m not saying there aren’t “good” people that are actors. I am saying Baldwin is not one of them.

No sympathy for bad things happening to bad people.

No bringing back the victim, but Alec can make a cathartic gesture. Write a check so huge it feels like a bullet ripping through his guts.

The gun was on “kill”
No, that happened when he failed to check the gun, cocked the hammer, aimed the gun at another human being, and willfully pulled the trigger.
That’s like saying all automobiles are on “kill” when parked in a parking space.

I had read that these particular dummy rounds have a small hole on the SIDE of the bullet, which indicate it is a dummy round. So yes, you would have to remove each and every bullet to check that they are indeed dummy rounds.

For this reason, I can’t see the advantage of pre-loading the gun. It would be faster to load the dummy rounds just prior to using the gun, than to pre-load it, and then have to unload it again to check for the holes on the sides of the bullets.
