No one has been charged in the fatal shooting, and Mary Carmack-Altwies, district attorney of Santa Fe County, New Mexico, has highlighted the complexity of the situation.
"We don't know how those live rounds got there," she told CNN. "And I think that that will probably end up being kind of the linchpin for whether a decision is made about charges."

It was her job!
Bingo.
I will bet that the cops are going over the personal life and record of everyone anywhere near the set, from the janitor that cleans the rest room right up to Baldwin.
Why???
Because Baldwin is notorious, world famous for being an a**hole. He has abused so many people he has become famous for it.
There are people who brood over their mistreatment, whether real or imagined, for years and on one day try to get even.
Those are the people who mail bombs. wire the family car to explode, machine gun a car or house trailer even though it is occupied by women and children....
So suppose there was one such person on the crew. He knows the script requires Baldwin to point the gun directly at the camera and fire. He cares not who is behind the camera as long as Baldwin rots in jail, ruined, he will have paid him back.
Outlandish? Maybe, but remember people have burned down apartments to get revenge on one resident.
I am not saying this is what happened. I am saying that the cops are checking all kinds of stuff and we might get a surprise.
First they will want to know how long the guns were left on the tray and who was where during that time, and they will go back down the timeline to find out how they got on the tray...that chain of custody thing.
But bottom line...unless she put the live ammo in the gun, she is not a criminal. Maybe negligent under civil law, maybe not depending on what the investigation turns up.
But Baldwin is dead meat. If there is any justice in that jurisdiction, he will be tried in criminal court and sued in civil court.
there was only one person involved who pointed a gun at a human being and pulled the trigger
whether one knows if it is loaded or not, you just dont do that
even when play acting
The way somebody familiar with the industry told it on a thread a day or two after it happened, there is a very strict protocol that is supposed to be followed, and if Arec Bardwin would have checked the gun himself he would have been breaking that protocol.
Sounds stupid, but we live in stupid times.
exactly correct, from everything ive read from the actual experts on the subject
It’s always the responsibility of the operator to know the condition of the weapon. Once it changed hands so did responsibility. It’s just that simple. If Baldwin didn’t bother or know how to ascertain it’s condition he should have taken or operated it.
Comments from people who work in movies with guns:
Actor Jeffrey Wright, who has worked on projects including the James Bond franchise and the upcoming movie “The Batman,” said “I don’t recall ever being handed a weapon that was not cleared in front of me - meaning chamber open, barrel shown to me, light flashed inside the barrel to make sure that it’s cleared,” Wright said. “Clearly, that was a mismanaged set.”
Actor Ray Liotta agreed with Wright that the checks on firearms are usually extensive. “They always - that I know of - they check it so you can see,” Liotta said. “They give it to the person you’re pointing the gun at, they do it to the producer, they show whoever is there that it doesn’t work.”
If Baldwin were a conservative, you can bet that the investigators and prosecutors would manipulate and apply coercion to all others involved and have them claim that Baldwin knew the gun was loaded.
That’s how our corrupt legal system works today. Conservatives on juries need to understand that and stop accepting what the police and prosecutors say as the gospel truth.
“ If they can’t prove who loaded the gun, the shooter cannot be charged.”
Bull crap.

Actor John Scheidner said the opposite. I’m not sure protocol overrides the law in any case. Why was he pointing at the off camera crew rehearsal? Why did he pull the trigger if it was just rehearsal? Why was there no ballistic shield? Did Baldwin know the gun had been used with live ammo off the set by the crew? Many of these questions are directed to his role as producer, and go to criminal negligence.
My understanding is he was pointing the gun straight into the camera and firing. It was part of the scene to be filmed. She was behind the camera.
Good points. Indeed, Alec Baldwin is internationally known for being a D**khead. Hence, you have legions of people to consider, each with a private motive to destroy his career and take his freedom of movement away.
I thought of that too but how likely is that in Baldwin's line of work? He's married, she's married. If you want to stray, you get permission and that's usually not difficult when one party is a multimillionaire celebrity. Homicide on the other hand can be surprisingly expensive.
More likely someone on the set wanted to ruin the project or Baldwin in particular. Otherwise this was an uncommonly long chain of stupidity.
It matters not who should have done what. Only the one who pulled the trigger is ultimately responsible.
Did she load the gun? Yes, that is her job. If she did not then she did not have control of the weapons props.
I understand what you are posting about actors. However both John Schneider and Kirsty Alley both have said the same thing: actor handed gun and immediately checks chamber and perhaps will do dry fire afterwards. So this is confusing. Seems that the Industry would have concrete, established protocols to prevent tragedies like loss of life.
Alec Baldwin. What can a person say about him? I went back and read some of his old Twitter posts and watched a few videos of his anger issues. I’ve yet to witness a more vile human being who takes such satisfaction from the pain of others. No. I don’t possess empathy for this evil narcissist. And I believe the majority of media coverage right now is designed to make him into a victim. Pure Narcissist tactics.
Was Alec having an affair....still sits in the back of my mind. This "non-accident" would likely cost him less than a divorce.
Makes sense when you consider if he was having an affair, he could pass this off as an "accident" while getting rid of the threat so he could get away with the wife being none the wiser.
99% wouldn’t know how...
That is a really basic fact, worth noting. I honestly hadn't considered it so far, so thanks.
I heard conflicting reports about that, but so far nothing authoritative as to exactly why he was pointing it at her.
