Immediately blaming others, sooo very typical. He was handling the gun/prop and it's his and his alone responsibility to do the final safety check. Maybe he should stop bashing the NRA and take a gun safety course.
I despise Alec Baldwin, but actors are not qualified to be firearm prop masters on the sets where they are filming. That is supposed to be under the control of a specially trained person who is responsible to ensure that the gun is properly set for the intended use.
In this case, because it was on set, the blame lies with the prop master and his staff, not the actor, unless the actor substituted live rounds for the intended blanks.
Well if it was me I would fire one off into the ground just to make sure but its doubtful Alex Baldwin is much of a gun guy. Whoever loaded that weapon needs to face the music.
1. All firearms are loaded.
2. NEVER point a firearm at anything you are not willing to destroy.
3. Keep your finger off the trigger until sights are lined up on the target.
4. Be sure of your target and what is behind it.
Break one of these rules and you might be alright....break two........you see the results.
Looks as though Mr. Liberal Baldwin just had a crash course in firearms etiquette at others expense. Can’t blame the gun here.
> his alone responsibility to do the final safety check <
Absolutely true in every instance when a gun is involved.
It’s accurate. There’s guys on set whose sole job to NEVER hand an actor a gun that can kill somebody.
And, of course, not to shoot it at his DP and director.
WHY was he POINTING a gun at the Cinematographer anyway??? CHILDREN in KINDERGARTEN get sent home if they point there FINGER like a GUN!!
The actors depend on the prop people in these situations, it is their responsibility to make sure these things do not happen, not the actors. Most don’t even have any idea about guns in the first place. Whatever it was , it was a horrible accident and Baldwin will have to live with this the rest of his life.
Precisely
