This is the Head of the Passes attack on the Union blockading fleet, October 12, 1861, a Confederate victory, some damage to ships but no reported casualties.
By my count it was the war's 56the engagement:

There were no major engagements between the Head of the Passes in Louisiana, Oct 12 and three significant battles on the same day later “next week”.
