CDC Director Rochelle Walensky said last week that Covid vaccines 'can't prevent transmission' anymore despite working "exceptionally well."
"Our vaccines are working exceptionally well. They continue to work well for Delta with regard to severe illness and death - they prevent it, but what they can't do anymore is prevent transmission," she told CNN's Wolf Blitzer. "So if you’re going home to someone who is not vaccinated…I would suggest you wear a mask in public indoor settings," she continued.
That said, Walensky may have actually undersold the vaccines. According to a preprint study by British scientists at the University of Oxford, people who have taken AstraAeneca's Covid-19 vaccine and contract the virus are just as likely to spread it as the unvaccinated after 90 days, while the Pfizer vaccine's ability to reduce transmission is "substantially" reduced over the same period, according to the records of nearly 150,000 contacts that were traced from approximately 100,000 initial cases.
As NBC News reports, "The samples included people who were fully or partially vaccinated with either the Pfizer-BioNTech (BNT162b2) or the AstraZeneca (ChAd0x1) vaccines, as well as people who were unvaccinated. The researchers then looked at how the vaccines affected the spread of the virus if a person had a breakthrough infection with either the alpha variant or the highly contagious delta variant." Of note, both vaccines were more effective against the Alpha variant.
Initially, both vaccines reduced transmission from a fully vaccinated person to a given contact. Specifically, if a vaccinated individual is infected with the Delta variant, a given contact was 65% less likely to test positive if the infected had two doses of the Pfizer vaccine, and 36% less likely with AstraZeneca.
Yet, buried in the 14th paragraph of the report, NBC News notes:
The new study showed that protection against transmission seemed to wane over time, however. After three months, people who had breakthrough infections after being vaccinated with AstraZeneca were just as likely to spread the delta variant as the unvaccinated. While protection against transmission decreased in people who had received the Pfizer vaccine, there was still a benefit when compared with people who were unvaccinated.
In the words of the researchers, the Pfizer vaccine's ability to reduce transmission was 'substantially' lower by week 12.
They also found that while the Pfizer vaccine was superior in reducing transmission to contacts, protection against Covid-19 in the first place waned faster vs. AstraZeneca.
As for where people are coming into contact with the infected - the study found that 70% occurred within households, 10% from household visitors, 10% at 'events and activities,' and 10% at work or school.
What does this mean for the holidays? According to Dr. Anthony Fauci, it's 'too soon to tell' whether people can safely gather together for Christmas this year.
And why aren't US officials acknowledging naturally acquired immunity?
With all the mixed messaging, is anyone really shocked at the widespread 'vaccine hesitancy' among healthcare professionals?

More confirmation.....There It Is – Study Finds Predominance of Antibody-Resistant SARS-CoV-2 Variants in Vaccine Breakthrough Cases in San Francisco Bay Area
What this study finds is exactly what vaccine developer Geert Vanden Bossche (Belgium) has been predicting. The predominance of antibody-resistant SARS-CoV-2 variants in vaccine breakthrough cases from the San Francisco Bay Area, California. [DATA LINK HERE]
The California study finds that vaccinated individuals are more susceptible to COVID variant infections than unvaccinated. Geer Vanden Bossche has been warning that vaccine antibodies would suppress natural antibody responses. The vaccine antibodies take control of the immune system and defend only against a targeted virus.
Among vaccinated individuals, a COVID variant virus is not recognized by the specialized antibodies provided by the vaccine, and the natural antibodies have been programmed to stand down.
(MedRxiv) Associations between vaccine breakthrough cases and infection by SARS coronavirus 2 (SARS-CoV-2) variants have remained largely unexplored. Here we analyzed SARS-CoV-2 whole-genome sequences and viral loads from 1,373 persons with COVID-19 from the San Francisco Bay Area from February 1 to June 30, 2021, of which 125 (9.1%) were vaccine breakthrough infections. Fully vaccinated were more likely than unvaccinated persons to be infected by variants carrying mutationsassociated with decreased antibody neutralization.
[…] These findings suggest that vaccine breakthrough cases are preferentially caused by circulating antibody-resistant SARS-CoV-2 variants, and that symptomatic breakthrough infections may potentially transmit COVID-19 as efficiently as unvaccinated infections. (read more)
Be careful around vaccinated people, because they can carry a more resistant form of COVID-19. Additionally, the highly specialized antibodies in the vaccine create a need for a booster for each antibody resistant variant. Israel is already on booster #2.
Dr. Vanden Bossche has been using Israeli data and showing how the widespread vaccination rates were creating pressure on the virus to mutate into variants with higher levels of contagion. The unvaccinated group has been keeping the pressure down by defeating the virus and carrying natural immunity. However, as the unvaccinated population is increasingly made smaller, the pressure on the virus to mutate increases. Subsequently, these mutations stay at higher or more effective levels of infection.
Israel is already on it’s second round of booster shots.
The long term impacts of antibody dependency are unknown. Some doctors and scientists are already worried that normal cancer fighting antibodies will become dormant and we could see an explosion of unusual cancer clusters due to antibody suppression caused by the COVID vaccines.
Remember, no one knows exactly what this targeted vaccine will do to the overall human immune system as it responds to other viruses or infections. The vaccinated population are the human trial subjects, and the unvaccinated population are the control group.
In the U.K. data study there were:
157,400 Delta variant cases amid the fully vaccinated (26.52% of total cases), and 257,357 Delta variant cases amid the unvaccinated (43.36% of total cases). However, when it came to severe outcomes 63.5% of deaths were from the fully vaccinated group. [source]

Oh, good! Then you’ll appreciate the recent study performed by numerous US Universities, Health Departments, docs and scientists.

If they are promoting vaccine mandates, or providing information to people who are, yes I do.
Are you one of those people?

However the viral load for vaccinated exists for a shorter period of time making one contagious for a shorter period of time.

That is so easy to understand if one has a modicum of common sense and an understanding of Darwin's 'natural selection' and 'survival of the fittest' theories. And a rudimentary understanding of the history of viruses.
Don't even have to be a virologist, immunologist, gas doctor, mom, or male nurse.
Why won't these vax rabbits get it?
Great post, Jane.

Just pinged you to the thread.

“If as Rochelle Walensky says, vaccines can’t prevent transmission, what’s the point of a vaccine mandate?”
Mayor, we still have lots of crime in our city year after year despite paying 100 police officers year after year. Can’t we reallocate the funding for community social programs?
Police significantly cut the rate of crime, but do not totally prevent crime, so they’ll get funded in Fiscal Year 2022 too.

I’m 62. I got two shots of Moderna plus whatever my parents and 62 years of living gave me.
I’m going to live my life and not crawl in a hole.
If there is some reason to strongly justify another jab of something, I’ll await my turn.

Difference being with those other vaccines is they work and don’t need a booster every 3-6 months…..or more.

Looking back to the Spanish flu pandemic and the Smallpox plague, vaccine mandates were used. There are 4 issues that need to be met to justify mandates:
1. Proportionality. Higher levels of risk justify more restrictive limitations on individual freedom, where risk is construed as a combination of risks posed by a disease and the ease of transmission of that disease in relevant local circumstances.
2. Precedent. Precedent set by prior limitations on individual freedom matters: more coercive or restrictive approaches should generally only follow failures of less coercive or restrictive approaches. That is, unless there is an immediate, severe risk, adults should be free to exercise their autonomy to the extent that vaccination rates afford sufficient public protection.
3. Context. Social and cultural context of liberty restrictions must also be considered. In areas where government is unstable or in societies in which trust is fragile, coercive measures could undermine what’s left of a state’s stability or a society’s trust. Liberty restriction and coercion can exacerbate distrust, suggesting the appeal of less restrictive and less coercive education-based approaches. Two drawbacks of education-based approaches, however, are that they might not be trusted by some or might not be sufficiently protective of public safety.
4. Sufficiency of access. Restrictive, coercive legal approaches require sufficient access to the good or service being mandated. That is, it is patently unfair and nonsensical to demand compliance with vaccination policies without making vaccines sufficiently available to those subject to a mandate. This reasoning suggests the importance of the state’s capacity to provide adequate supply for the vaccine for which a mandate creates demand.

People routinely get boosters for illnesses such as chickenpox, tetanus, diphtheria, mumps, measles, and rubella—to name a few. Every few months?
For real?
How many boosters? And for how many variants of aforementioned diseases?

So why don’t you talk of natural immunity?
Why only always vax pushing?
Why is that the only option for a disease that has over a 99% survival rate if left untreated, which would be even higher if treated?

RE: Police significantly cut the rate of crime, but do not totally prevent crime,
Do the vaccines significantly cut the rate of infection? What do the experiences of Israel, Iceland and other highly vaccinated countries show us?
RE: so they’ll get funded in Fiscal Year 2022 too.
Nobody is telling the government to cut funding of vaccines, they just don’t want vaccines to be forced on the unwilling.
