COVID - 1984, is here and - it - is - a - nightmare!
The big mountains are just that- BIG! The early snow storm brought a reality check to those of us working at the resort even though October is normally a beautiful sublime month weather wise. There is always the potential for the white stuff to fall any month of the year, hence the mandate to carry snow chains at all times is posted at the beginning of the road climb up into the mountains. Normally, most drivers DO NOT heed this advice.
I went from the dead of winter to late summer/early fall weather in about 3-4 driving hours, arriving down in Fresno, CA (home of Free Republic) with (surprisingly) a few inches of snow still on top of my truck bed tool box piled against my back window, shielded from the valley’s sun.
