I can imagine the unvaxed - myself among them - being excluded from the economy to the extent that it amounts to “slow motion murder”. Perhaps the time is drawing very near that the unvaxed simply assume that is the ultimate plan, and respond accordingly.

If National Guard members are medical professionals in civilian life, wouldn’t they already be doing medical work? What’s the point of yanking them out of the jobs they are already doing?
National guard is pathetic for obeying such an order.

No, the NY governor only has authority over the NY national guard. Which, presumably, are almost all NY residents. So, they are going to pull docs and nurses from their civilian medical jobs to staff shortages which will of course create new shortages. Robbing Peter to pay Paul. And, given the disruption and effects of government beurocracy, it will be much less than a zero sum trade

Anyway,
Today, nurse to patient: “Hi, I’m Sally Smith. I’ll be your nurse today.”
Tomorrow, nurse to patient: “Hi, I’m Guard Lt. Sally Smith. I’ll be your nurse today.”
At best, it’s the same difference, with just a little confusion and aggravation thrown in.
