I have come to view COVID as correctly described as a 2 stage disease, which does not manifest as Stage 2 in most people. Stage 1 is usually harmless to the infected person, and is largely confined to nasal passages (minor leakage is usually not serious, apparently), but it is often highly contagious. Stage 1 is epidemic to most everybody.
Stage 2 is where it gets further - bloodstream, serious lung infection, etc., and starts kicking off the comorbidities when present. Stage 2 is the real epidemic of the vulnerable unvaccinated.
As for the rest:
I question if you have gone out and personally acquired a large amount of information from very numerous people of varying backgrounds and beliefs “in the flesh”. If lacking other access, volunteer a few weeks, helping out as your abilities allow, in a hospital or two. Or do that through someone in whom you have complete, well earned trust. Because... virtually ALL else in this modern world is often (OFTEN!) illusion. (Even me, as “PaulR” on FR, might be illusion or deception, but at least I suggest a proper alternate course for learning about something that can be life or death from misinformation.)

I don’t think we still know exactly why some get extremely ill and others don’t—there are emerging profiles, but there are plenty of exceptions, and of course since these experimental drugs are so new, we get new profiles such as young adult males developing myocarditis, etc.

~~I agree that there is a secondary phase—where people can end up in the ICU...I am not sure exactly why some progress to that phase, but I do believe from what I have read that there are early protocols including MAs, Ivermectin and/or HCQ and Zinc, etc. that can mitigate the disease—head it off at the pass...And there are Freepers here who have testified to this first hand...

~~~I don’t need to go volunteer in a hospital or talk to people to acquire real world information—frankly, I would rather read reports/watch interviews with credentialed experts—who, for the most part, were highly regarded in their fields until they “colored outside the lines” and started challenging big pharma and the bureaucrats.
~~Trust? Actually, I live with a PhD who does statistical analysis for pharmaceutical clinical trials—20+ years of experience. They have plenty of insight into clinical trial design and data analysis. I also live with an “essential worker/front-line” who works in a hospital and also works for another hospital group lab—oh and they have completed grad work towards both biostatistics and infectious disease/infection control degrees...So seriously, I get trusted real-world information exposure in my own household—I have family working at Mayo Clinic as well. One thing— that I live with a family member who had TB and cannot get the virus, so I am not going to add to their risk by going out and volunteering in hospitals or talking to people who likely know less than my own family members as well as the experts I follow on-line. Those experts are people like Dr. Kory and Dr. Malone—far more credentialed than most.

However, continual lockdowns (Remember 2-weeks to flatten the curve?), extensions of Emergency Powers (It has been 18 months?!?!), censorship of any “alternative course for learning” that might challenge experimental vaxxes, mandates leading to job loss and denial of services, and passports leading to increasing government control and loss of liberty give me pause. I have seriously reconsidered my naivete in January 2020.
