The link between early Crimson and ELP was Greg Lake plus lyricist Pete Sinfield. Loved his SF/fantasy imaginings, then they just stopped.
Alvin Lee, one of the best rock guitarists of his day.
Underrated but that boy could jam.
“Goin” Home” from the Woodstock album was a SERIOUS spontaneous jam… he was shredding before shredding WAS shredding…
Tax the rich, feed the poor
‘Til there are no rich no more
That has always caused me question this song
Saw him in Tampa in '78 - headlined a day full of bands at the old Plant Field.
Then again in New Haven in a small venue.
Favorite guitarist (sorry Jimi).

Their sound changed considerably after Lake left. John Wetton became the lead singer at some point, and he’s no Greg Lake.
I like a couple of the Wetton albums, Larks Tongue in Aspic and Red. Not for the singing, but I really liked the music. It had a much harder sound than the songs from the Lake period.
My kids would come to me with ‘this great NEW song’ they heard and 9 times out of 10 it was a REMAKE of a song from my youth.
And also 9 times out of 10 they’d end up liking the original much better when I pointed them in that direction, and they’d also feel smart compared to their contemporaries, knowing it was a remake.
And then, for fun, we’d kill one another on first-person shooter games, LOL!
Amazingly NONE of us grew up to kill anyone in Real Life. Imagine that. ;)
Read later.
