My mother was married to my father and they had five children together. He killed her when I was 3.
I’ve hitchhiked only once in the States, but got picked up in less than 5 minutes, in a heavy snowstorm when I really needed a lift.
I’ve been giving this a lot of thought the past 3-4 days, and from what I have observed, I believe both Gabby and her fiance were emotionally immature and suffering from mental health issues. I won’t waste time here elaborating and will wait patiently to see what comes out.
Retardless of that, this whole thing makes me very sad. She appeared to be a sweet young woman. Such a pity.

I know a couple of my neighboors who need to learn that lesson. Not that I’m going to be the one who enlightens them. I’ve found that the dumber the mistake is, the madder the offending party will get about being corrected.

Ah, flashback for me to 5 or 6 years ago. An old man wearing dress suit and shoes was carrying several bags of groceries along the highway shoulder in a sloppy mess of melting snow.
I pulled over to offer a ride and he took one look at me and backed away fast shaking his head no.
It was then I realized I had on a skull and crossbones do-rag, reflector shades and my grayed out goatee was in its prime at 6”.
He wasn’t having anything to do with me.
When it involves lesbians, let’s call it a “crack-shoot.”

I started hitchhiking when I was 12 years-old until I got a driver’s license then did it again for a year when I was in college and didn’t have a car.
Nothing memorable happened except the first time I ever did it the ride was from a Domino’s Pizza delivery guy smoking a joint.
The luckiest ride was a grocery store semi truck that picked me up within 5 minutes of sticking my thumb out and dropped me off at my exact destination.
My friends and I were the hitch-hikers. We always considered that 3 guys together always seemed a safer bet for drivers than lone hitch-hikers. What are the odds of 3 psychopaths all travelling together at one time? We never had a problem getting rides.
Some seniors have a phone or bracelet and necklace with a panic button on it.
Young ladies should ditto.
I was in a terrible snow storm a few years ago. My car slid off the road and there just happened to be a guardian angel with a large pickup truck who pulled me out of the snowbank.
He just left after I was out, so couldn’t even tell you his name
So to pay him back, I picked up two hitch-hikers whose car was stuck on the highway and were trying to walk home.
There is a police body cam record of the couple being stopped for erratic driving. Both claimed they had a physical altercation(very mild). She claimed to be OCD and was anxious. She said he wanted her to calm down.
Cops arranged for each to stay separate that evening to calm down.
Seems like the two have personal issues which do not go well together. Great insight into genesis of domestic violence. People are assumed to be normal...but the truth may be quite different. Check out video. Very sad. She needed help and wandering around was not helpful for her.
This is just plain sexist. I have seen movies where a 105 pound woman walks into a bar and beats the heck out of a dozen 240 linebackers.

The last ride that ended it for me was after I dropped off a plane at West Palm Int'l (PBI) I had to hitch a ride all the way back to Vero beach. A coked up guy in a whale tail Porsche picked me up and was going north on I-95 at 90 MPH and trying to get romantic. That kind of freaked me out. I was only 18 at the time.
After that I saved on my food budget and bought a moped. If I took the front wheel off it would fit in the back seats. I even took it to West End, Freeport, Bahamas. I would go from the airport to the Holiday Inn and mooch off the tourists, sleep in the plane.
The 70's were awesome!
