According to video footage and the Reuters news agency, a volcano on the Spanish Canary Island of La Palma erupted, spewing lava and a large cloud of dust and smoke into the air.
stationary, they don’t travel.

They do travel at hundreds on MPH
12 miles on average ; until it hits a land formation equal or above its height. If its flat land from beach inward then will continue over it.
Those are both Subduction type tsunamis - Subsidence (the sort La Palma would create) causes standing waves which do NOT dissipate until they strike a landmass equal or higher than the wave, else they just continue over land until the energy is expended.
Tsunami waves travel at hundreds of miles per hour, not standing waves.
Standing waves are called standing because they stand.
Stay Calm. Do not panic.
Pay all your bills at the front desk.
Grab the beer
Run like hell.

Cool live broadcast, especially since I speak Spanish!
As I’m typing the eruption has amplified.
we’re at almost 17 feet ASL! Food zone X. But i will keep an eye out for intruders on the run from the beach. Lol.
They are reporting that the nature of the lava, flowing fluidly, would indicate that the gas content is low and thus the potential explosivity would also be low.
As they said that, an eruption just occurred at 7:20 pm local time.
People are going to shelters, but are waiting for COVID tests before entry.

So they just stand there and look silly? Guess the crabbers in Latuya Bay were teleported back to the ocean then. Amazing!
videos are worthless.
Great I have always wanted beachfront property
The Lava fountains are spectacular. I bet those are 1000’ at a minimum.
As far as a slope failure sending a large portion of the mountain sliding into the ocean I could see that possibly happening if the magma chamber depletes itself and the crater collapse into a caldera.
Lituya Bay was a tsunami.
I am central as you can get. Haines city polk county. Last man standing.. or swimming..
