This shows that the virus was engineered and designed, and doesn’t have a natural origin at all, except for the unmodified portion.

I read earlier, back when Luc Montaigner and David Baltimore said the virus was bioengineered, that the codons on the furin site were used to code for those specific amino acids, (IIRC) 95% of the time by humans, but maybe 5% of the time in viruses.

So not only is the amino acid sequence native to humans, but the codons used to produce it are.

And gee, *right* at the site responsible for merging the membranes to effectuate release of nucleic acids into the cell.

How convEEEEEEENient.
