The fiancé of missing 'van-life' woman Gabby Petito presents himself as a sweet and caring guy, but is actually jealous and controlling, her friend has claimed in an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com.
Rose Davis said Brian Laundrie, 23, allegedly went so far as to hide Gabby's ID once so that she couldn't meet up with her at a bar, triggering a violent episode similar to the one police investigated weeks before her disappearance.
'Brian took her ID just so she wouldn't be able to come out with me,' she told DailyMail.com on Friday.
'He's got these jealousy issues and he struggles from what Gabby called these "episodes," where he would hear things and hear voices and wouldn't sleep.

The new "Natalee Holloway", that's why Fox News used to be called, "The Missing White Girl Channel".
Isn’t it? I’m intrigued- Sothern Gothic is always compelling.
You don’t have to know someone personally to realize they are a bit of a nut. :)
In the Murdaugh family, it is either kill or be killed, or some of both.
Update: LEO are searching the Carlton Reserve, an area near the Myakka River and Venice FL.
Especially if she’s blonde.
Usually, a case reaches an end quickly - either happily or tragically - and everyone stops following the story.
Some cases are never solved. With no new details to report, eventually those cases drop from the headlines.
(Example: When Dulce Maria Alavez vanished, many people followed that story closely, but then no new details were ever found.)
Then there are cases like this one. I'll admit I wasn't paying attention to this case at first. But, it stays in the news because new information is released almost every day. The story is convoluted with twists and turns. This couple was traveling the country, so the case is not limited to one area. A double-murder happened around the time and place this couple might've been staying. The suspect refused to talk to police for a long time, and now he's disappeared. That's why so many people are following this case.
Gosh, I would never have suspected that. /s
She was the one hitting on him. So yes, she was the aggressor.
People who keep saying this have NO idea what happened before the traffic stop. I have seen perfectly sane women be goaded and goaded until they finally blow up. A couple very close to me, the man said "she just loses it like batshiite crazy." And then I once saw how he completely drove her to that state.
Gabby's best friend said Brian was very controlling and jealous and had "episodes". It's my guess he had an "episode" that day and she fought back.
I do, although it an experience most people should have had by now. Sometimes the story pushed by the media in sensational cases is not the whole story. Sometimes it is worth trying to see what the actual story is once the evidence comes out.
Like in the case of George Zimmerman, who according to the media was a deranged racist who chased down and murdered a peaceful teenager. Or the parents of JonBenet Ramsey, accused of all kinds of terrible things but now known to have been just parents who lost a child to a deranged murderer.
We all know it is likely that the story related to Ms. Petito is unlikely to have a good ending. But why engage in the kind of vigilante mob speculation without facts that seems to be your source of amusement today.
The poster who asked about the traffic stop seemed to be unfamiliar with what actually happened. It wasn't "bizarre" it was about what would be expected if the police got a call about a domestic dispute and stopped the car with the couple in it. You can see that in the body cam video and read about it in the police report.
I am sure you did that right? So you know those facts.
What types of behavior are justified when a person is “goaded”?
What types of behavior are justified when a person “blows up”?
I’ve known people who justify extremely destructive behavior simply because somebody made them unhappy.
Supposedly, Laundrie and Petito argued earlier on the day of the traffic stop. Laundrie is alleged to have locked Petito out of the van. Yet it is revealed later that Petito owns the van. How is this possible?
If you don’t like the “speculation” then be an adult and avoid the threads Karen. FR doesn’t need thread police.
poor, silly, stupid girl to get messed up with this wimpy passive aggressive guy....
It was her van and he locked her out. The witness saw her force her way into the van by crawling over him to the passenger side. An article, don’t remember which, also said that she told police that she didn’t want him to leave her AGAIN. Sounds like he’s done it before.
This is like historic free republic
Freeper women.....some of whom are legendary.... canoodling over an evil man
You guys are only missing my nemesis
RIP her
I mean that even though she was vicious to me
.... "She's also finding it hard to believe the system protects a person like Laundrie, allowing him a right to remain silent when her daughter is likely in peril.
'The fact that there's a constitution that protects him, it's making me sick because he's home safe while my daughter is probably not safe,' she said.
'The FBI and police is trying, they are doing their job,' she said. 'But I'm thinking long term. There's got to be law changes for situations like this. I will fight to end of earth not only for Gabby but for anyone else that ends up in this situation.
'If somebody is known to be the last person with a missing person, then they shouldn't have a right to not talk. They should lose that right altogether. This can't be allowed.'
There are legendary FReeper women? Are you saying FR has some opinionated old ladies? :-)
I don't know who your nemesis is but it doesn't matter.
A grieving, frightened Mom says how she wishes he could be forced to speak and you immediately make it a communist conspiracy. Unbelievable.
LEO are performing a massive grid search at the 25,000 acre Carlton Reserve. It has been quite rainy for the past several days. LEO have boats, ATV, Jeeps, and bloodhounds. Multi agencies are involved, including FL FWC, City and County police, FBI, etc.
