(RNS) — The founder of one of the world’s largest megachurches has died, according to news reports from Korea.
The English-language Korean Herald reported that the Rev. Cho Yong-gi died at a Seoul hospital on Tuesday morning (Sept. 14).
He was 85.
Cho, known in the United States as David Yonggi Cho, was the founder of the Yoido Full Gospel Church, a Pentecostal megachurch whose members number in the hundreds of thousands.

He was a heretic.
Prayers for his soul.
I’m always skeptical about leaders of churches that big.
“prosperity gospel”
Makes me wonder if those who preach that “brand” (i.e. Joel Osteen, Joyce Meyer, et al) are actually Christians led astray or atheists running a con. Regardless as to which, was reading the Bible last night and saw the following verse which addresses “prosperity gospel”:
21 “Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven, but he who does the will of My Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?’ 23 And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!’
False
I once read a commentary by someone who are once closely associated with Robert Tilton in his early years. He said that Tilton was a total con, and that he perfected his act to such a convincing degree, it made him a lot of money. He didn’t really believe ANY of it.
He died Yong...
LOL! Nice. That’s a keeper.
I’d recommend reading “The Seduction of Christianity” by Dave Hunt…
