By electric eels?
Without fossil fuels we'll all freeze to death. (Regardless of how hot it may be in the summer.)
I live in an area which is more often than not cloudy or rainy (I think we are the of the most overcast places in the USA). Probably a nice little fringe source here, but nowhere near 40% is possible.
solarklowns
This has gone on way too long.
Report: Solar could power 40% of US electricity by 2035....On a very sunny June 21st (longest day of the year), and 0% at night.
Fixed it.
War on Beef.
War on Farmers.
War on Private Land Ownership.
Keep f’ing dreaming.
I would say that this is entirely possible... if the total energy production of the country drops by 80%. And with Joe Biden, we are certainly on track for that!
These people are abject idiots.
Hows it working in LA?
We had a small solar panel setup here in Missouri and in the winter when the sun is lower and days shorter, we were lucky to get 4 hours of good charge time on a sunny day. 10am - 2pm.
I had to cut a lot of trees to even use solar.
How many trees are we going to cut down to power everyone with solar?
What happens when you cut all the trees down? You make a desert.
What about tall buildings? How much open land would be used up to power a city? Convert food farms to solar farms?
Is there enough raw materials to build all the batteries required for mass usage of wind and solar?
Powering a camp trailer or small apartment is not the same as powering a steel mill or locomotive.
The Dems talk a lot about "following the science", but never do - whether it's biology or physics - it's all about emotion.
So when the sun isn’t up, what’s providing the power.
I am certain that if one were to ask the author of that report to define "existential" (snatching away his/her cellphone and keyboard before asking) they would be clueless.
Using the word "Existential" is almost always Leftist-Speak for "something we hate".
But it won’t.
Or not.
It’s true if you’re ready to live without A/C, washing machines, televisions, computers, and electric ovens and stoves. Oh, and don’t forget even your 60W light bulb will need both the solar panel AND a lead acid battery. Otherwise it will be inoperable at night.
Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha……..wasn’t it supposed to do something like that last winter in Texas?
Given the fact that the Chinese are about to take control of large chunks of lithium, US scientists better get to work on finding an alternative.
“And pigs could fly by 2026!”
Would those be solar-powered pigs?
