Not everyone can do that. I can't, so abstention is my only option.
I attend church weekly, and in the Chritian church I attend, grape juice is used in place of wine, as in the case in conservative non-catholic churches. When I attend church out of town, if they will serve communon, I ask if it will be juice or wine. If it is wine, when I approach the alter I will take the bread, but cross my arms over my chest when offered wine, which is the universal sign of abstention in such circumstance.

I never actually saw the critically-acclaimed “The Wire” but I know Williams from “Boardwalk Empire” and “Black Market” (unscripted show about..black markets), I was looking forward to season 2 of the later, he reportedly filmed “much” of it. I hope it’s not the reason he picked up the H.

Thanks so much. Based on the comments, the House has divided on this issue. Society deserves a share of the blame for this scourge of drug addiction in addition to the individuals destroyed by it. Many very good people have fallen to this peril and some people have gotten quite rich on it.
We need to close the border as drug overdose deaths are a real pandemic worth fighting.
I just finished watching The Wire, for the first time, Saturday night. Omar was my favorite character and I rooted for him like we did for Tony Soprano. It seemed odd but there was such a charisma to him and Michel K. Williams was exemplary playing him.
I started watching Boardwalk Empire last night in homage to him. I had only seen the first 3 seasons in the past.
From everything I have read about him and comments from his fellow actors and friends he was the most gentle, kind and giving soul. Sadly, yes, he had demons. We all have demons but his were in the form of drug abuse he’d thought he’d beaten. Sadly, not, he is gone way too young and such a burning honest talent.
I love a quote of his:

Many also do not know he was a very talented dancer and choreographer. He also gave much back to his community to help kids. He has many gifts and I am very sad for the loss of him. To be honest, as a woman, I had a big crush on him. Yeah. I did.
