David Chase didn't have to look very far for the actor who would play the young Tony Soprano in The Many Saints of Newark — a feature-length prequel to the iconic HBO series. The Sopranos creator cast Michael Gandolfini, son of the late James Gandolfini, in the highly-anticipated film, which premieres Oct. 1 in theaters and on HBO Max. But for the younger Gandolfini, inheriting the family legacy was a huge responsibility.
"It's probably the toughest decision I’ve ever had to make," the 22-year-old actor confessed to Empire magazine in a new interview....

Except of course it didn’t actually do that.
I wonder who is playing Charmaine Bucco. And compare her to what Carmela looked like back then to see if Tony made the “right” choice, LOL!
LOL
Previews looks great.
But then, lots of previews look great.
You laugh but it shows you don’t actually know anything about the show past the talking points of people who never watched. Heck they even talk in the show about how stupid the claims of stereotypes in mob movies are.
I finally got around to watching it this year. I watched an episode a day for about three months. And I think it’s the best TV show ever made.
But it’s sad to think that I believe Gandolfini literally gave his life for that role.
LOL- sure i don’t....you can tell by my previous statements. I mean if they talk in the show how stupid the claims of stereotypes are it must be true!!! Who doesn’t know what they are talking about??
Enjoy the double standard.
Hard to tell. He was always a big boy. He was certainly not encouraged to lose weight while on the show. But I don’t think he would have anyway.
You can definitely see the difference between Season 1 and the Final Season, even his breathing became much more heavy.
What makes that scene in the show funny is that the conversation is happening between 2 Italian characters that are shrinks.
The level of whining from people who don’t know what they’re talking about shows it’s not a double standard. The only real difference is that mob movies are consistently profitable enough that they just take the griping as free advertising.
LMFAO:
“The only real difference is that mob movies are consistently profitable enough that they just take the griping as free advertising.”
BOOM!!! There ya go...since its profitable the double standard doesn’t apply!!!
The inability to grasp the simplest of concepts by many is not surprising...
Yeah, his health had definitely suffered. But it’s the path he was on. You look him up in True Romance and he was already big but not as big as he was by Sopranos.
It’s not a double standard. The complaints happen. The ADL whines incessantly. But how often do any of the various genres that get complained about really change? They don’t. Partly because these things happen for a reason. The biggest of which being that law abiding citizens don’t make for good drama. Nobody is gonna make a tense dramatic movie about a baker of any race who’s really just a baker. Cause bakers don’t do anything dramatic.
If there’s any double standard it’s actually Jewish mobsters. Nobody complains about them in movies or TV shows. Ever hear anybody complain about Hesh in the Sopranos? Nope. Nobody complained about Bugsy. Nobody complained about Hyman Roth in Godfather II. Nobody complains about Jewish mobsters.
LOL- WOW!!
So let me make this simple; it’s 2021 and in your opinion, there’s no double standard in the way the media, hollywood, even politicians approach or view something such as the Soprano’s versus and movie, show, sports teams that center on native Americans? Any movie, TV show that “culturally appropriates” blacks, latinos, minorities, etc??
This is for the record now.
Do the people who complain about those things complain about all of it? Generally yes. So no double standard. The only question is ever if anybody listens. And that is always about the Benjamins. People had been complaining about the Redskins name since the 60s. But wasn’t until FedEx decided to pull money that anything changed. Don’t pay attention to the noise, that’s just noise, and means nothing.
LMFAO!!!
They complain about “all of it”??? That’s adorable!!
The same people that complained about the name Cleveland Indians and compelled the franchise to change its name are complaining about the Sopranos?
The people who complained about the KC Chiefs doing the Tomahawk Chop and compelled them to end that cheer are complaining about the Sopranos??
The people complaining about Notre Dame using a leprechaun as their mascot are complaining about the Sopranos??
Didn’t think so....
Whatever dude. You know you’re full of crap. Have a great weekend.
LOL- yeh, I’m full of crap- because you are incapable of answering a few questions.
