I have an “adopted” son with a trach and I can guarantee you there are many nurses who have no clue how to care for a trach properly
I once saw a baby, less than a year old. He had been in some sort of a fire in Central America. His mother spoke no English. He was playing in a crib. That baby had no idea that he had a trach. He was beautiful, and his trach was pristine, well cared for. He must be in his 20s, at least by now.
I have a tough time visualizing that there are so many Nurses out there who are unable to provide proper care. I have never seen such things, well almost never. I am certainly being schooled today. I wonder if something can be done.
