I once saw a baby, less than a year old. He had been in some sort of a fire in Central America. His mother spoke no English. He was playing in a crib. That baby had no idea that he had a trach. He was beautiful, and his trach was pristine, well cared for. He must be in his 20s, at least by now.
I have a tough time visualizing that there are so many Nurses out there who are unable to provide proper care. I have never seen such things, well almost never. I am certainly being schooled today. I wonder if something can be done.
There are also wonderful caring nurses who do great care. I don’t say all are bad. As an RN since 1979(retired now) if there was something I was unfamiliar with, I learned quickly. Patients deserve the best and airway is #1 priority.
