Sorry for the vanity. I've seen at least three accounts spamming the forum as if they were automated, very fast.

Are you referring to the Glizzy Glizzy posts? If so, it appears that a momma’s basement-dweller has registered with FreeRepublic and is Spamming this site. Nope. They are hacked accounts of FReepers in good standing.

“I try to always check a link to make sure it is what it says it is before I click on it.”
That sounds like a really good habit to get into.
I don’t click on many links, so I haven’t experienced the problem. If the source identified is foreign to me, I don’t click on it. I think now if it’s a link to a source I trust I may go direct to the source and bypass the link. For example if the source in the thread says it’s from the NY Post, I will go to the post directly and skip the link.

It seems to have started about 10:16:00 pm CT with “Glizzy Glizzy” as the source.
Likely, it was a bot, because posts were seconds apart. That is almost impossible to do manually — that is, actually posting a new article from scratch.
At least the deleting will give the mods something to do for a while. :)

The mod(s) is/are banning the accounts as a first line of defense to stop the erroneous postings. FRiends, if you have a weak password. It would probably be a good time to change it! Otherwise, your account might be next!!!
Others might want to hold off changing their password until the mods say otherwise. They might have a different plan moving forward.
