Government control of Business
Government control of Industry
Government control of Media and the Press
Government control of Education
And forcible suppression of dissent!
Of course that is the 1910 Websters College Dictionary definition. They were clearer about these things at the time.
I hope you read the many responses to xone’s comments.
Corporatism and libertarianism are not the answer. Governments both fed and state are meant to secure our liberties as described in the Constitution. Whether said liberties are violated by state or federal laws that need to be changed, or by municipalities, counties, cities or yes, businessnes.
Among the “socialist” schemes (socialism, fascism, communism) one can delineate along the lines of revenue.
“Means of production” and “revenue” are twisted together under socialism.
As government control advances though it stages, the revenue defines the malady.
Capitalism is the ONLY economic system that divorces revenue control from government control.
In Communism, the government is the sole owner of the means of production. For example, in Atlas Shrugged when Francisco's copper mines were "nationalized," and taken over by the government. Within weeks they were unable to produce any copper. Same thing happened in real life in Venezuela when the government took over the oil fields. Suddenly they were unable to produce any oil. In the Soviet Union, the line the farmers used to repeat was, "We pretend to work and they pretend to pay us." The result: food shortages and mass starvation.
I think what we have now is some sort of hybrid "Neo-Tech-Fascism" where the true Communists that have been raised, educated, intermarried and fully indoctrinated and then embedded into the corporations in order to carry out the orders from government. This has become blatantly obvious in the journalism industry and now in the tech/social media industry. They fully intend to implement this "social score" that requires you to be documented 24/7 and be denied access to food, housing and medical care depending on how "in line" you are with the Groupthink. And it's straight outta China.
