LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Connie Hamzy, immortalized in a No. 1 rock ‘n’ roll hit by Grand Funk Railroad in 1973, died after a brief illness, KARK-TV reported. She was 66.
Hamzy was the subject in the opening verses of Grand Funk Railroad’s hit, “We’re An American Band,” which spent 17 weeks on the Billboard Hot 100”S. "Sweet, sweet Connie, doin’ her act/She had the whole show and that’s a natural fact,” sang drummer Don Brewer, who also wrote the song.
“I was determined to become a famous groupie,” Hamzy told KTHV in 2019. “I really was.
Beginning in the late 1960s, Hamzy attended dozens of shows at Barton Coliseum in Little Rock, KARK reported.
She also traveled to shows around the country, the television station reported.

That was a hard 66.
Little Rock...groupies....has Bill Clinton sent condolences...
Apparently she willingly chose her "sex, drugs and rock and roll" lifestyle and only she can answer whether it was all worth it or not. Men who choose that lifestyle tend not to be as harshly judged. But in order for men to have that lifestyle, you must also have willing women.

Everyone should have a goal in life.
R.I.P.
In many ways, I'm sure.
Life can be cruel on one's looks, especially if you "lived hard" in your youth.
That’s true. Too bad many of us don’t realize it until it’s too late.
“Hamzy was 17 and a senior in high school when the band’s manager first told her about the line in the song, KTHV reported in 2019.”
Being underage at the time, she died bedore she could file the lawsuits. As Dylan found out, it’s never to late to be sued.
Your looks only go so far. What does the interior person look like? Hollyweird’s libtards never seem to age well and become more insane as they grow older.
At least she wasn’t a Manson groupie. 😋
Her interview on Stern years ago was GREAT! She definitely “kissed” and told. Howard (tactful as ever), asked her about the ends of the scale. She said the top end was Huey Lewis. And the bottom end was Peter Frampton. Howard:”Well, that was the 70’s, and everyone was on drugs. Is there a chance that the drugs had an impact?” Connie:”No, I lived with him on his tour bus for a month!”.
OUCH.
Laz woulda.
bags woulda waited for seconds.
Cletus woulda had no problem with the caboose.
Is that the “whole show”, as a natural fact?
I think that pretty much says it all.
She made it to 66.
Who said America doesn’t have good medical care?
She was not underage. The age of consent in Arkansas is 16.
FYI, Mark Farner has agreed to do my next “Celebrity Interview” on the Wild World of History Celebrity Interview series.
Hooray for Creem magazine!
Really hard!
I’m lucky as I could probably pass for early 50’s.
I took it to imply that she started earlier since she said her first was the drummer of Steppenwolf and she said she was 15 when she went to that show.
Who know, who cares? She made her choices. I don't see that being drugged and passed around like a piece of meat, ending up hanging out at venues to give BJs at 55 is a notoriety one should be proud of. The lifestyle was brutal. I'm very surprised she made it to 66.
No children mentioned. I hope so. Be a hell of a thing for a kid to have a mother well known for that.
