It is simply dizzying the speed at which events are unfolding - earlier this week US officials were cautioning that it would be months before Kabul might fall. It's turned out to be days.
And now, for all the diplomatic window dressing, this is turning into a scramble by the Americans to get out.
Officials at the embassy were told to destroy sensitive documents, helicopters are ferrying staff to the airport. The Ambassador has left, the US flag lowered. And it's left the Secretary of State, Anthony Blinken, trying to put a brave face on events.
Arguments can be made about the US policy to pull out - there is a strong feeling that US involvement couldn't continue ad infinitum. But the manner of the withdrawal has been hapless, with a mass of miscalculation, warnings ignored, and - critically - a wild over-estimation of the capability of the American-trained Afghan armed forces.
The policy may have been framed by Donald Trump when he was president, but Joe Biden owns this unfolding chaos.
The stars and stripes flags were left behind in the basement on the floor. The rainbow flags were carefully wrapped up, boxed reverently and evacuated on one of the first flights out. This was done early so that the Taliban would not interfere with the procession carrying the sacred flags or the candle bearers and the choir that accompanied the transfer.
This story caught my eye, because the BBC hated Trump and, so it seemed, they had turned on their creature.
When I saw the curious byline, I dug in. Our new friend PublicAdvocateUSA had joined on July 14, 2021, was radio silent for a month (ok...that's cool...learn the ropes...) then today posted NINE articles from -- wait for it -- a blog.
Redemption comes in many ways, and in many forms. Maybe Pubbie will change his evil ways. And, in all fairness, for all I know Pubbie has an arrangement with JimRob. After all, it isn't my site and private property is the bedrock of capitalism.
That said, if the original content is from the BBC, then post the BBC article.

Biden lied to Stephy saying we’d stay after Aug 31 if Americans still needed to be evacuated. NOW, they are cleaning up his mess saying we would need further negotiations with the terrorist talibans and seek their approval to stay longer. What a mess, Biden’s a fool.

We did not get any of this information from the American media, showing that the American media is not covering Biden.
We felt that the BBC was blunt and spot on, and sometimes we endorse news articles 100% without commenting. So we apologize for linking to our website, and we will link to the article from now on moving forward.
That is not a good standard any party wants to have.
Sorry about this. It will not happen again. This is a mistake and I have been contributing to Free Republic for years. The format is understandable but the execution is poor. My content on my website does promote Free Republic and credit the original source and collects no revenue from visits or clicks. (yes it is a non-profit group, but its a clean homepage) I am aware that sources are posted here to the source and that comments about it are allowed for all. I have posted and credited Free Republic hundreds of times for years at public advocate.
Friday posting was a first time mistake for me caused by a misunderstanding at this end. I will not be posting like that again. I will make sure the original link is not to my website unless it is a full length original interview or article with the direct source (a direct source by Free Republic standards). Again, my apologies for this mistake Friday.
