Absent Shanghai and Guangzhou will what’s left of China really matter?
Xi’s question is..... is Taiwan worth the loss of Shanghai and Guangzhou to just two or three missiles?
“The question is will the ripe plum fall into their lap o will they have to climb to get it.”
Ladders can be dangerous.
The results were not good.
We are adapting to it's lessons.
Now our generals don't have Afghanistan to occupy their time and justify their existence so the focus will naturally shift to more pressing issues.
...the cost to China may be too much for the CCP to bear.

Sorry to disagree but China is a Communist country which means they don’t give a damn about what it costs in lives to defeat Taiwan.
China has 2.2 million active military personnel and 1.2 million in reserve. Taiwan has 165 thousand active personnel and 1.65 million in reserve. Without substancial support from the US (and Japan and Australia) China would overwhelm Taiwan through sheer numbers of personnel and materials.
Biden and the DOD have demonstrated weakness and it may be enough to convince China the USA is a paper tiger.
Taiwan has relied on the US for it’s defense just like Europe has.
Taiwan has nothing to stop the Chicoms from over running their country.
Taiwan, explain to me why we should be your mercenary force
So the takeover is inevitable. Might as well do it now, so that the U.S. will have no access to semiconductor chips.

Reinstate Trump now!
Let’s just take care of our own Hemisphere. We got plenty of resources here, we don’t need the rest of the world. Keep a strong military to deter anyone from encroaching on our Hemisphere, and we all agree to leave the rest of the world alone.

Strike when the iron is hot.
Resident Biden’s botch of the Afghanistan exit has emboldened terrorists and hostile countries across the world.
Good plan.
It’s pretty clear that China is trying to intimidate Taiwan into a peaceful surrender. Nothing would make them look better on the world stage. And nothing would make us look weaker.
After this fiasco in Afghanistan aren’t we required to come to Taiwan’s defense? Our credibility worldwide has been severely damaged by what is happening in Afghanistan, our allies are worried, enemies are emboldened etc.
China makes a move on Taiwan and we do nothing? It would be the end of American influence world wide. How would America recover from such a move?
The fear is, usually when a leader hears over and over that he’s weak, he tends to overcompensate and then goes too far.
