Disturbing new surveillance video shows the moment a 51-year-old man was brutally attacked by a hatchet-wielding maniac while at a Lower Manhattan ATM.
The footage, obtained by The Post on Tuesday, shows the victim at one of the ATMs inside a Chase Bank vestibule on Broadway near Beaver Street in the Financial District shortly before 5:30 p.m. Sunday when his attacker walks in, removes a hatchet from a dark bag, sneaks up behind him and begins slashing him.
The frightened and bloodied victim tries to fend off the brutal assault, falling to the floor several times as he futilely attempts to grab his crazed assailant’s weapon, the footage shows.
When the unidentified suspect is finished beating his victim, he smashes the screens of the cash-dispensing machines before walking away — and leaving the hatchet and his backpack behind, according to police.

Sadly, it won’t be treated as such.
There were two attack videos on Gab earlier. Both New York. Both victims had absolutely zero situational awareness. The other one was a girl with her head buried in her cell phone when she walked down the street. In this one the guy didn’t even look when someone else walked in. I can’t believe how oblivious people are to what’s going on around them.
Good thing the victim didn’t have a gun, otherwise, someone might have gotten hurt.
Some of us literally cannot afford to get out. Check-to-check. I’ve been trying to get out of the Chicagoland area for probably a decade, and I can’t put away enough money. The dollar value keeps shrinking and I can’t accumulate enough money quickly enough, not to mention that any money I do save is wiped out by new tires or a mechanical problem with my truck, however rare they are.
Gas prices? Not as bad as CA, but still stupid.
The article says the victim was interviewed from the hospital and described the attack in Spanish.
Where there’s a will there’s a way. If you were this guy, attacked by a Lunatic Leftist with a hatchet, would you still stay? Or, would you get the hell out?
If you have some skills and are employable in Illinois you are employable in other states. Florida, Texas, etc...
If you’re living paycheck to paycheck in Illinois you can get by paycheck to paycheck in Texas and Florida. Both states have lower costs of living and NO Payroll taxes so, you will have more cash in your pocket every payday.
You simply have to make the decision to Get the Hell Out. And do it. A great many people make this decision every day. Yes, it has some unknowns and some temporary risk. But, no risk, no reward.
