An aside, I’ve started to see actresses referred to as “actors” a lot. I don’t like.
Didn't really notice it until this article, but you're probably right its some obnoxious trend by the media to destroy gender roles in society, like them coming up with that idiotic phrase "Latinx" so they can make Spanish culture "gender neutral" (which is particularly insulting since they'd claim conservatives are racist and/or elitist if WE invented new words to make the Spanish language "gender neutral" in order to conform to our own culture)
Of course they still distinguish between the sexes when it comes to "Best Actor" and "Best Actress" categories, but I think we need to brace ourselves for the inevitable trend in a few years where they will nominate some man (one that "identifies" as a woman, of course) for a "Best Actress" award. Hollywood celebs would love to do that to get brownie points for political correctness, and of course the media will fawn over the male "Best Actress" nominee to continue to push the "Transwomen are ACTUAL women" narrative.
Probably so-and-so Transperson's performance won't even be worthy of ANY kind of award, they'll just happen to be in the right place at the right time, like when Tom Hanks got "Best Actor" for his lousy phoned-in performance playing a homo, or when Heath Ledger was named "Best" actor of the year for being dead, and the hype how the role of "the Joker" supposedly consumed him and lead to his death (which was BS, he did other movies AFTER that one)
The Razzies always routinely awarded "Worst Actress" awards to men in drag portraying female characters (Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, etc.) to mock them, but now the inmates are running the asylum.
Fortunately, I doubt the male "Best Actress" nominee will actually win over an ACTUAL woman.
