My ancestors were highland Scots and Irish. My grandfather and great grandfather both called city people Lowlanders as far back as I can remember. My Irish grandmother called mountain people Uplanders. 😁

Our Irish guide told us test the Irish who fled and settled in the mountains was how hillbillies got their name.
Well, I was a little confused when I read about the lochlanachs, and it occurred to me it could be a local dialect for lowlanders rather than lakelanders.
